I'm really enjoying the game so far but one of my nitpicks is that Snakes beard looks too fuzzy and undetailed, especially since facial hair is looking incredibly detailed these days, it stands out and it's a little disappointing, but again I'm really nitpicking here lol.

I'm enjoying it as well although one thing is really annoying me is the side objectives for the missions have no information to them and you basically have to luck out to complete them all.

Other than that it's a great game but not in a "Different league" like some people seem to be saying without playing it.

Yeah I thought that was a strange way to do as well so I've pretty much just been doing the main objective and that's it unless I do the side objective accidentally lol, I assume they did that just to give you another incentive to re-do the mission.

Yeah it actually makes the older titles feel as they are in a different league than other games. V actually feels like a lot of games mixed in one and a more traditional triple AAA title than how the other games felt when they came out. Maybe I feel like this because I loved the refinement to the series that peace walker gave and this is more of the same mixed with gz-red dead. Could be mind blowing to people who haven't played peace walker. Had ground zeroes not came out and stayed as the prologue in this package, I would have been mind blown this far in.

Of course not..... but it sure helps seeing things clearly :)

I really enjoyed Red Dead Redemption but on PS3 its one flaw was the low res textures (now theres a remake Id grab if it were offered).
These open world enviroment games look so much better with crisp high res textures and long draw distances as it feels more natural.

I have the game but even though I have unlocked the f.o.b's I can't build them until the servers are online which they are not.

From what I can see the PS4 has:

Better textures
Better AA
Better depth of field (more ability to apply focus/blur)
Better shadows

But all in all the PS3-version holds up really well. The PS4-version simply gives the game a more realistic tone.

Don't forget the biggest difference

PS4 runs at 1080p and 60 fps.

PS3 runs at sub-720p and sub-30 fps for the most part.

So unless you game on a 720p/480p TV, get it on PS4/XBO or PC.

Eventually there will probably be a "game of the year" edition with DLC and stuff and probably ground zeroes available. You can probably get that once you upgrade to current gen.

I said "probably" at least it may be cheaper in a year or so and you can rebuy again.

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a PS4/X1. The huge reason why lies in comparing last gens & current gens Battlefield 4. There is actually huge differences you'll notice in your games.

So when pc gamers bring up these differences they don't matter and its not worth upgrading 300 to $400 but it only matters when upgrading to a ps4 ? You do see where I'm getting at seeing how people say there's no differences between pc and console. People even said their not much difference between last gen version of bf3 and pc version before next gen consoles came out. But we know the reason why.

This article, and similar ones for other cross gen titles really fail to highlight the massive difference you see when actually playing different generation versions of the same game.

With tiny screenshots and no motion, the ps3 doesn't look so bad in comparison. Playing the game is a different story.

The blur captures terribly in these screens. It makes the PS4 version just look odd compared to PS3. Nice bump on visuals for the new gen though!

Oh yeah I agree. PS2 graphics peaked for me in 2004, after that it was easy to notice how much better Gamecube and original Xbox graphics were. PS3 and 360 graphics still look great and hold up compared to their successors.

God of war 2 released in 2007 and was one of the best visual game in any consoles at this time,including games that released to ps3 and xbox 360
So the peak you talking about IMO was set by santa monica in 2007 and no 2004

I'd add Rogue Galaxy to that list too. Natively the game looks like an early PS3 / 360 title, very impressive. If you are fortunate enough to have a PC that can max out the settings on PCXS2, it is a thing of beauty.

I read numberous people saying the side quests can get confusing and irritating becuase you dont always know where to go and what too most of the times .. sure hope they fix that...

Well end of my first mission I had the two main objectives complete and then four objectives were just question marks. No idea what they were, where to begin them or anything.
I havent noticed a replay mission option yet which is odd, as Id like to go back and try find missing objectives, get better ratings etc without starting again...

Small screenshots do not account for over double the pixel count (sub-720p vs 1080p) and double the framerate (30fps/60fps), which are the two biggest and most resource-heavy differences. But the game is cross-gen so the graphics even on PS4 and PC aren't incredible. They sacrificed some flair that to be compatible with all 5 platforms and still support 60fps on current gen consoles.

I already have the game for the PS4 and I can the Fox Engine looks amazing. From characters to metal buildings, day and night, lighting, the weather. Really having the feeling I'm in the 80's with a typical Metal Gear atmosphere

Slowly upgrading stuff and doing missions is well balanced as far as I can tell. I'm about 12 hours in the game

This game was built for PC. Consoles are really dead. I mean, it has been two years since these consoles released and they cannot even run 2012 pc games at 60 fps on low settings. Expect things to just get worse from here.

Konami have been showing off the PC version of Mgs 5 and view it as the best way to play.

Ps3 looks good enough. I am playing The Evil Within on PS3 currently, and it has pop ups, late texture loading, screen tearing, low AA, bad shadows, and still manages to entertain me big time :-) So MGS V will probably be even better ;)
