Wow, I saw as low as 19fps several instances and some sequences hovered at the low 20s at a pretty significant length.

Looks absolutely gorgeous though.

Locknuts3180d ago

Are people disagreeing that the frame rate dips so low, or that the game's gorgeous? N4G confuses me.

The 10th Rider3180d ago

Both...

Xbox fans disagree because he said it looks gorgeous, PS4 fans because he said the frame rates dips so low.

Some people can't decide whether the disagrees are from their fanbase or the agrees are, in that case the negativity overrules the positivity, as per page 12 of the official fanboy handbook.

ShottyGibs3180d ago (Edited 3180d ago )

It's called, calling a spade a spade, fanboy

It's looks gorgeous but the frame rate is balls.
It is what it is. Stop picking sides.

PudgeyBurrito3180d ago

The game is like watching a movie. No one complains about 24 fps which is what movies are shot at.There is no need for a high frame rate when you are only using qte's and walking.

StrayaKNT3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

Wow how come the framerate is that bad? That would be a game breaker for me. Didn't expect this from a game thats not so big and open.

Bathyj3180d ago

I thought just being on PS4 was a game breaker for you.

Chug3180d ago

He is awfully concerned about Playstation games it seems. Anybody heard of any patches to bring inverted controls? I need to play this game.

dantesparda3176d ago

@ chug

dont forget that you can change the controls to whatever you want them to be through the PS4's accesibility options. Try it out. But remember, those are global settings meaning they'll change for every game. So you'll have to change them back.

DragonKing813180d ago

@StrayKNT I have a question for you. Do you think if this game was release on Xbone would it stay at 30FPS and perform better? I'm curious to hear what your gonna say.

Milkshake3180d ago

You don't even have a PS4!!!

tuglu_pati3180d ago

How can people disagree with this. The frame rate its bad.

OB1Biker3180d ago (Edited 3180d ago )

lol I think they just disagree with well known trolls flocking here while they dont give a f about the game...
OT Sure it could perform better but framerate drops dont really impact much on how you enjoy this game for obvious reasons. Well Im too much immersed into to game to notice anyway

Satyre283181d ago

Unacceptable to be honest. But im sure it will get a pass and not be talked about because its a PS4 exclusive.

x_RadicalAura_x3181d ago

The game is good. Try playing it first before judging it.

Satyre283181d ago

How am i judging the game? I have not said anything about how good the game is. I strictly said that this is unacceptable the FPS even drops to around 19 at times, but knowing the gaming media bias it wont be made into a big deal because its a PS4 exclusive.

Bathyj3180d ago

Well you said the game gets a pass because it's PS4 exclusive, like that ever happened. The truth is if it's a PlayStation exclusive it gets more closely scrutinised and always has. Where have you been for the last 10 years?

You're right, under 30 fps isn't good enough but the reason it gets a pass is because the good in the game far outweighs the bad. Along with the fact this proved framerate doesn't matter as much in some games as it does in others. Yeah sure, it didn't look as nice when it dips, but tell me how this effects gameplay at all.

Ryse dipped into the teens too. Difference was that was an action game where steady framerate does matter. You want to do an apples to oranges comparison and then are surprised they taste different? Probably no one is mentioning it because no one noticed it.

fallacious3181d ago (Edited 3181d ago )

or you know people just dont give a shit when it's perfectly playable and a really good game.

Sonyslave33181d ago

That don't stop people from dissing and talking shet about xbox one games.

PizzaSteve3180d ago (Edited 3180d ago )

@Sonyslave3 Don't worry about what others say about XB1 games and just enjoy them if you like them.

JamesBroski3181d ago

It's noticeable for sure, but it doesn't interfere with the gameplay nor the experience at all. It's not a fast paced shooter, it's basically an interactive movie. And movies are most of the time 24fps.

Still the best game I played in a long time and definitely the best of its genre hands down.

PizzaSteve3180d ago

It still runs smooth even through drops so it don't matter.

KiwiViper853180d ago

You can't say it runs smooth with drops. It is contradictory

EstSince88Gamerdude3180d ago

I wasn't aware of any written law about frame rates my friend. Where is the FPS office?

It will get a pass not because it is on the ps4 but because it has stellar reviews, people love it for what it is and because of the type of game it is..the frame rate doesn't make any difference to the experience, like someone above mentioned. It's like watching a programme or a film. It's designed that way!

b3ast3180d ago

I just finished the game And it's close to be my favorite game of all time. Play it guys! You'll love it.

strickers3180d ago

It will get a pass because this game played like Heavy Rain. It's not an action game. I've found it to get perfectly responsive for it's game play style. Then again, Xbox fans do the have any games like this, so maybe they don't understand.

KUV19773180d ago

It gets a pass because you don't notice the Drops unless you watch a Video with a frame-counter.

Angeljuice3180d ago

Well it obviously isn't unacceptable as those who played it without knowing the framerate thought it looked and played beautifully.

It would only become unacceptable if it hampered the game or affected it in a negative way which it doesn't.

Or maybe people should stop enjoying the game now that they know the framerate?

Foehammer3180d ago (Edited 3180d ago )

That is an excellent comment

best part thought...

If you read it again the comment could easily and equally be applied to resolution

d3nworth13180d ago

It has nothing to do with the fact its a PS4 exclusive. The gameplay is mostly QTE and making chooses. Things that aren't really affected by framerate. As long as the gameplay isn't affected people tend to ignore it.

rainslacker3180d ago

It's being talked about now...so already your comment is proved to be at least half wrong.

Doesn't look any different to the ps4 version. Hope it's not another lazy Sony remaster a.k.a remake.

Andy_Dee84d ago (Edited 84d ago )

Wrong, they even showed it on the last State of Play and I just played it the month before since I wanted to go back to it.

It does look better and more cleaned up, it's not a remake at least what they said. They said remaster so this article is wrong from the info I've heard.

Until Dawn is getting remastered to coincide with the live-action movie.

So not a Lazy remake and yes it looks better! :)

CrimsonWing6984d ago

It’s pretty different looking.

Neonridr84d ago

I'm sure it's a fair upgrade seeing as it's UE5 now. That being said, the original was not ugly by any stretch and I can't fully understand the need to remake this other than a cash grab to coincide with the movie that is coming eventually.

Crows9084d ago

Please point to me to a lazy remake?

Hedstrom84d ago

A good game, had some fps troubles on ps4. So hopefully thats ironed out with some better looking graphics.

solideagle84d ago

I think Sony should rename PlayStation to RemakeStation. I am a Playstation fan but this is getting ridiculous. I think this is the weakest gen software-wise compared to all other gen.

PS2 > PS3 > PS1 > PS4 > PS5

Battlestar2384d ago

Agreed. Sony has released only remasters/remakes of games and noting new. MS has released so many new games i don't have the time to name the all.

solideagle84d ago

I have never owned or cared about Xbox, so I don't have any opinion about that. if you say that MS has released then I believe you I guess

Terry_B84d ago

Ratchet & Clank, Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7, Helldivers 2 , Horizon Forbidden West to name a couple.

And what Microsoft released in the last couple of years was way beyond the league of those listed games.

MrNinosan84d ago

Ratchet & Clank, Returnal, Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7, Helldivers 2, God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West to mention a few of the good ones.
Then everything on PSVR2.
Then we have the bad ones, like Destruction AllStars and medium ones like Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

On top of that, there are lots of third party games.

Compare that to MS.
Redfall, MS Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon 5, Forza Motorsport, Starfield, HiFi Rush. Did I miss anything?

Now lets compare the games, and see which console had the best start this generation.

solideagle84d ago

I think Sony should have abandoned the PS4. we have not seen true PS5 potential yet. where are those games that would load Assets from SSD where the character is looking <-- Mark Cerny

I hope all new games from Sony Studios are PS5 only from now...

CrimsonWing6984d ago

What’s worse is this gen is almost over, if you can believe it.

staticall84d ago

@solideagle
I completely agree with you. At first it was like «Hey, so cool, i've never played this game and it's getting a remake, means it'll be much better!» but now it's «Come on, i was just playing that, it still looks and plays just fine». I want to play new games, try new experiences, hear new stories from new characters. It's like gaming companies have hired George Lucas as a consultant or something.

@Battlestar23
> MS has released so many new games i don't have the time to name the all
Suuuuuuuure, dude. Come on, be real.

Felix_Argyle_Catbro84d ago

Looks like the PS4 version. Lol, that'd be 70 bucks.

Machina83d ago

Cheap and quick way to fill in the release calendar in-between major new games - that's why pretty much all the major publishers have been doing it.

This is a fun game. But remaking this is lazy. A cheap remaster while a new game is being developed would have had more value for the customer.

EvertonFC99d ago

Yeah I here ya, I'm on the fence tbh as I think the haptics could be really cool but it seems a little early.
I guess it's to tie in with the movie release so makes sense somewhat.

outsider162499d ago

This over Killzone remake? Or Socom 2 remake?

monkey60299d ago

Less effort and there's a movie release to tie into.
I am very tired of all these remakes and remasters of games from recent years. If they're going to remake anything it should be a lot older.

Chevalier99d ago

If the Resistance trilogy on PS3 was being remade I would buy that day 1. Really hope the franchise returns along with Killzone

JEECE99d ago

Socom 2 remake wouldn't be worth the effort. I don't know the exact number it finally sold, but from looking at articles from a few years after launch, it looks to have gotten in the ballpark of 3 million. It has been twenty years now so many of those people probably don't even play games anymore, and the people who play multiplayer games now would start whining about Socom about three weeks after launch about how "there isn't enough content" and "they just sent it out to die." Granted, it would probably develop a small but dedicated player base from the old crowd who want a stable, solid multiplayer game instead of a live service, but that isn't a lucrative proposition for Sony.

EvertonFC99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

It was the same when millions of gamers asked for a sly remake then when the game came out it sold like 10,000 copies.
Sometimes we think we want the old games then in reality nobody ever buys it 😂🤣

outsider162499d ago

You have a point though. I guess we want it because of nostalgia. Was hoping we'd get a socom with a good single player and ofcourse multiplayer, maybe it'll sell well.
