Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain First Impressions – V Has Come To

Tony Polanco from The Koalition writes:

"Thanks to the power of Mom and Pop stores, I was able to get my hands on a copy of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain before its official release this upcoming Tuesday. Since I had the game, I wanted to make a real quick video where I give you my initial first impressions."

The biggest title of the year and unfortunately there are no mom and pop stores in my state smh Well at least I have something to look forward to. Awesome video and impressions.

After playing Ground Zeroes (free for PS+) and watching the Motherbase gameplay video, I've been trying to get into this awesome series. So far I've completed MGS2 and MGS3 (HD collection on Vita) and wow... they're really amazing, although I don't quite understand the story.
I'm going to start Peace Walker soon and get myself ready for MGSV. Preordered. Can't wait!

scark923188d ago

You should have played MGS3 then Peace Walker xD then Ground Zeroes!

Tornado3188d ago

Haha yeah I wish someone had told me that earlier! I read some of the history in GZ and knew The Boss' death before I played MGS3... It's alright though, I still know nothing about Peace Walker.
By the way, does Portable Ops take place before or after Peace Walker?

Anghellic3188d ago

Portable ops take place before PW, but the story of it doesn't matter it's not canon

WeAreLegion3188d ago

I'm confused.

"V has come to"

What does that mean?

Not sure but Shu twitted the same thing with this pic

I got my copy and I've just stopped playing it now (3am). It's definitely the toughest MGS game yet. The intro is pretty long, but when you get started you'll love the scale. My mother-base is slowly getting half decent recruits.

isa_scout3188d ago

I envy you so much right now. Tuesday is to far away.

SaladSnake3187d ago

As said on this site - it's strange playing and not having as many cut scenes. I love the story. The opening part is brilliant though! Starts with a bang! Can't sync my GZ content yet as I guess the online part isn't available until official release. You'll love it though. Drop me an add on PSN if that's where you're playing. Freeman-Fly

isa_scout3187d ago

Def be playin it on my PS4. I have Ground Zeroes on both my Xbox One and PS4 but it'd feel weird playin it on my Xbox as every MGS I've played has been on a PS console. PSN ID is isa_scout

SaladSnake3183d ago

Cool. I was wondering where you found me lol. My headset is broken, but I'll be getting a new one for mgo.

Shazz3188d ago

flat out love the game , can be a tad overwhelming but just embrace it

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan201d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara201d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721201d ago (Edited 201d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus201d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow201d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga217d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19217d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19217d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq217d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger217d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder217d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils217d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder217d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85217d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420217d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim217d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo216d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
