Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Collectors Edition Unboxing

A unboxing of the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain collectors edition.

SaveFerris3179d ago

I wish that Konami would've released the full scale arm and hand outside Japan. Strange decision to not release the limited edition PS4 in the USA either.

Neonridr3179d ago

I would have picked up the console for sure. Having a full scale arm would have been interesting, but I am happy with a smaller replica. Easier to fit on the shelf.

;)

DemonChicken3179d ago

Still think the full scale arm is awesome -

https://pbs.twimg.com/media...

having it holding a spare controller or when your console is off is a pretty neat idea. Plus it just looks too good next to your console

PizzaSteve3179d ago

I bet Kojima wanted to do full scale but Konami didn't want to spent the extra money.

SaveFerris3179d ago

Maybe. But the amount of money Konami could've made from even a limited run would surely have justified the cost.

Neonridr3179d ago

so cannot wait for mine to arrive.. I am afraid to open it. :P

RosweeSon3179d ago

Haha not just me then, Hideo's Last game for Konami, End of an Era.

TheROsingleB3179d ago

This is why I went in for 2 :)
One reserved with GameStop back in March, and another when Amazon had a final batch available last week. Really lucked out with that one on Amazon, they went within minutes.

lunatic00013179d ago

i love mgs but damn thats one crappy collectors edition...wish we could have received the full scale replica here in NA...its so stupid that mgs is way more popular and sells more in NA and yet we get crap...not even that mgsv ps4...damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!

MrSwankSinatra3179d ago (Edited 3179d ago )

Yeah I was pretty skeptical about this CE myself. While I don't really buy many CE's these days, this one I was planning on buying. I'm really glad I didn't though.

GearSkiN3179d ago

Some reason Japanese tend to keep LE on mother land most of the time...

lunatic00013179d ago

I was hoping for something a little better but once again we get the short end of the stick...I usually don't care if other regions get better stuff but damn this is mgs...one of my favorite if not my favorite franchise ever damn it

-Foxtrot3179d ago

The size of the hand is so disappointing for what you pay.

EinRobot3179d ago (Edited 3179d ago )

Dude its only $40 more then just the game. You get a making of video, the arm a steel book and a few bits of dlc. People are just spoiled.

-Foxtrot3179d ago

Making of video costs nothing to make

Only other thing is the Steelbook and from what I know they don't really cost and arm or a leg either.

jimsl1ce3179d ago

A$170 more for Australians

EinRobot3179d ago

That's sucks for Australia. Crazy mark up. I am a huge fan and loved spending $106.00 total for that assortment. It wasn't super expensive, the full scale arm towers over a ps4. It's cool, for sure. But I would rather have the small arm for a shelf. I am not going to be playing with it because I am a 38 year old man who no longer plays with action figures. The edition is sold out. We have spoken. We are legion.

smashman983179d ago

Not really alot of figures alone cost way more than this but add in a steel book a making of video some dlc a sweet ass box and of course a shoe in for goty nomination and all of a sudden a 100 dollars seems much more with it

EinRobot3179d ago

The entitlement is strong with this one.

-Foxtrot3179d ago (Edited 3179d ago )

LOL...entitlement

People are paying for this...£99 in fact

It would only be entitlement if it was free or exactly the same price as the standard game. Then you wouldn't be able to complain.

Says the guy who thinks a "Making of Video" is something...when it could easily be a bonus/unlockable on the game disc.

MasterCheifGrewT1ts3179d ago

No it's not yer blind as a bat. The hand is articulate. It could have looked like a shit Amiibo.

MrSwankSinatra3179d ago

There is nothing articulate about that hand, it's just cheap painted plastic.

Despite it's smaller size, I am looking forward to my collector's edition. It will be the first (and likely last) MGS CE I can pick up at launch.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan190d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara190d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721190d ago (Edited 190d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus190d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow190d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga206d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19206d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19206d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq206d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger206d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder206d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils206d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder206d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85206d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac206d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420206d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim206d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo205d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
