Hitman Will Launch With 7 Missions In December, More To Be Added Later

SegmentNext - Hitman will release in December and according to new information is going to feature seven missions as part of Season One.

I am going to wait for the physical edition. And tbh, business wise, i cant see how this will benefit the devs/pubs. The game looks really awesome but releasing the content all over the year Destiny style doesn't exactly fit a game like this but we will see.

And hopefully the game doesn't tank because of this business decision. Hitman is an awesome franchise that i hate to see it go down.

Ground Zeroes was high quality though - something a lot of people don't take into account. Journey was a short game, but was it also amazing? Yes indeedy! And their prices weren't that disparate...

Maybe it will be 1h, 1,5h, 2h missions each, that wound give you minimum 7h and maximum of 14h gameplay, the order was in the same range and yet people were paying 60 bucks.

Maybe later missions will be at no additional cost, at least part of them, but they stated that new hitman will not have any paid dlc, so maybe the will all be free.

It's early access in disguise, asking people to hand over cash for unfinished games. What if SE isn't happy with initial sales? do you really think they will keep every team member on the project or do the smart thing (from a business perspective) and start moving them over to another project?

I have a list of games I have preordered and others I am eagerly awaiting. I just removed Hitman from this list.

I will wait 6-12 months until the game is finished.

I am in mood to fund episodic-style development for a game like this.

hitman went "down" with absolution, now theyre bringing back up to blood money level with scripted ai (upto 200) characters going about their business and theyll have sub-missions. i know i used to play the old contracts and blood money missions dozens of times each to see different outcomes.

All the mission DLC will be 100% free so I don't mind at all that it's releasing with 7 missions and adding more as it goes. It means I get to play Hitman sooner than if they had waited to be completely done before release.

It's not early access. Early access would mean that the game isn't finished. This game IS going to be finished by the time we get it in December. It's that they will be adding EVEN MORE to it, for no extra cost, all year long, 7 missions isn't bad at all for a start. It is an evolving game that will grow as you play it. They are listening to live feedback too.

It's no different than what Telltale Games develops with Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead episodic adventure games.

We get 5-6 episodes over a few months to create a complete game at the end.

I'm willing to give IO Interactive the benefit of the doubt as I've loved the Hitman games since the first PC exclusive Hitman Codename 47.

If games go this way, I will never purchase them at release.

I will wait till it's done, thus removing some of purchases because some of the games won't be as good as I expected or they advertised.

Plus, they will be much cheaper once complete edition is released.

Call me old fashioned but I also just want the physical 'complete' edition. I don't do episodic gaming as you never know if the quality of the first episode will remain throughout the rest of the game. Better to wait for review of the whole thing.

Still getting it day 1. Hitman games usually have 11 or 13 missions.

We don't know how deep they go, how long they are, complex they are etc.

Good point, look at how many Absolution missions should've actually been considered "missions" (and not the tiny maps/3 minute long side missions) and that's right.

7 missions isn't too far from a typical Hitman game.

Plus, I played it and if they continue to polish it - it's totally going to be worth it.

But if they go further towards Absolution... I'm going to be "Meh" on the final build.

Not to mention that, at least for most diehard Hitman players, "beating" the game really isn't the primary goal. Diehards really use the game like an assassin's sandbox. They want to discover all of the quirky ways that these 7 levels can be beat. I can see the non-Hitman crowd not being on board. But, I really can't see this bothering too many of the diehards...except for the no physical copy thing.

Agreed, but they have good reason to actually do such a a thing if you consider they will be getting user feed back to add levels and certain features.

A physical copy will be made at the ending of those changes. Its really a win win. I just think folks can't judge Hitman based on level count, you can't with any game until we even see the depth of those levels.

Exactly what Iceman and E-mix said. The Hitman games always have a variety of ways to approach each situation. I'm sure 7 missions is more than enough for now to enjoy the game. And I'm looking forward to seeing more added and on going for this game.

All depends on how many missions there are. How long it will take to complete each mission. How many ways there is to complete each mission including side objectives.

Hitman Blood Money only had 13 missions and that included the Tutorial Mission and the secret mission at the end that lasts for about 1 minute.

So 7 missions at the start. Then some more later on is ok with me.

Hitman Codename 47 = 13 missions
Hitman 2 = 21 missions
Hitman Contracts = 12 missions
Hitman Blood Money = 13 missions
Hitman Absolution = 21 missions

Am going to assume the £40 includes a season pass? If so future missions will be free. So we could be looking at a extra 10 or so missions on top of that. I have no issues with that.

I'm definitely getting this game. It just won't be when it releases. I'm like most of everyone else here, I won't support a game that releases in episodes like this when it shouldn't be. Even Telltale's The Walking Dead I wait until the full "season" is released before buying. But for a classic game like Hitman, releasing this version like this might hurt it. I'm not sure if it definitely will or not, I just find it odd that it's releasing like that.
