Blizzard: Conan Stole Our WoW Players

Edge Online writes: "You might say that it's an accomplishment in itself to pry a few World of Warcraft players away to try a different MMO.

So Funcom should be commended for apparently drawing some of those WoW players away to play Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which launched in late May.

Blizzard president Mike Morhaime said during an Activision Blizzard earnings call on Thursday, "Age of Conan released with some initial success a couple of months ago, and we did see some of our players leave to try the game. However, we've seen about 40 percent of those players return to World of Warcraft."

In about a month's worth of time, Funcom's Age of Conan garnered 700,000 subscribers, according to the developer."

No its like the best ever MMO game ever made unbeatable

The main fault is blizzards taking light years to get new content out and on top of that doing retarded decisions and not taking them away after they realise they've screwed up. Some examples of that?

Burning Crusade - The changes and new skills messed up the whole game and made everyone super strong. This made the game unstable and not fun for those classes which got kicked in the nuts when it comes to pvp viability.

Resilience - Made alot of people leave Wow. Mindless arena grinding just to get gear so you have a chance to compete with the ultimate no-lifers is boring as hell and skill should always win over gear not the other way around.

The constant nerfing and buffing - If they nerfed and buffed alittle faster like once a month you could live with it but when they completely messes up your class which you have played for 1 year and then does nothing untill the next expansion pack, you will find another MMO that won't do that too u.

The point of the arena was it doesnt take a grind. You only get a few rated games a week.
If you think the arena system ever involved a grind then youve never done the pvp grind pre-honor points system.

Besides, you can't say that the major problem with WoW is a change in PvP. Most people agree that WoW has pretty bad pvp, because its almst entirely based on who has better gear. Hopefully Warhammer will have great PvP, but I was expecting better things from Conan and was let down.

The only thing they changed with BC as far as stats go is they replaced percents with a rating. This attempted to make the stats more uniform, and didnt actually change anything apart from a number. Some arbitrary number around 15 for a critical strike rating was equivilant to 2% chance. Very simple mods displayed the conversion for you.

True but it's not like their was even decent attempt to be competitive . i mean look at aoc the best contestant ... it's bug ridden , empty of content , truthfully a real wreck , that many players past the initial polish of the 1-35 areas leave in flocks .

I no longer play WoW but I know a load of people who do or did until recently. Almost every single person I know that used to play WoW and is now playing Age of Conan can be summed up in a single quote.

"It something to do until Wrath of the Lich King comes out"

Age of Conan is a long, long, long way from even being as good as WoW was before Blizzard mucked it up with Burning Crusade.
