Andrew Wilson’s reign as the chief executive of Electronic Arts has certainly been good for investors.

I feel like i'm living in some sort of twilight zone, did I just read that heading right?

rdgneoz33207d ago

I think it's suppose to be a joke article. I needed a good laugh today.

Patricko3207d ago

There should be "/s" at the end of the title :)

EA got it right with Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.

They need to look at that game, and take some of the awesome stuff from that, and apply it to their other games.

Whatever they did with that game ^...they got it right, somebody in charge KNEW what they were doing.

* So yea EA can do great things, but a lot of the time they just kind of do mediocre things when they have the talent to do more.

* They had a NHL series going good...ruined that

* Fifa has always been solid so they do ok with that.

* They FAIL hard at basketball.

* Madden = well it's madden and it's football, and it's usually decent.

EA isn't terrible, but they, considering their funding, should be much better.

Ashlen3207d ago

The thing that drives me crazy is people come to articles like this and complain while on there next web browser tab there pre-ordering every EA game and buying all the dlc for all the games they already have.

Bigpappy3207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

Ea is definitely getting better. They have some of the best developers on the planet, and you can see that they are allowing them some creative freedom this gen. Everything seems improved.

I think EA have turned around. I guess they got tired of being voted the worst company in America but you can't deny that they've been much more gamer-friendly in recent times

ColManischewitz3207d ago

What's your best example of this new friendliness?

TheGreatGamer3207d ago

Their new CEO did away with a lot of unpopular things EA was doing and now we've got things like EA Access as one example that provides undoubtable value for the consumer

Testfire3207d ago

EA Access is your only example haha! A service only available for Xbox gamers, what about PS, PC and Nintendo gamers?

caseh3207d ago

@Testfire

It isn't EAs fault that they are not on the PlayStation platform, that's Sony's decision.

scark923207d ago

Yeah, Online Only games are one of the best examples!

*Angriest face of all angry faces*

TwoForce3207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

Yeah, i don't think so. EA only do one good things, but the rest is disgusting. Always online BS, that's gonna happen the new NFS game.

ChronoJoe3207d ago

What I think is hilarious is how they can't transition their good practices from one franchise to another.

So Popcap announced that they recognized that fans and consumers want singleplayer content to play in their game, and to be able to play that content offline, or online. Thus, Garden Warfare 2 has plenty of things to do alone in their game, while offline.

However, at the very same conference EA showed off always online games like Need for Speed. So why didn't one studio learn from the mistakes of another? Very unclear and it's bad for their business, and consumers of their product.

I think they are gradually heading in the right direction, listening to and responding to the backlash from consumers, but only because it pays to do so.

Yea, dlc and microtransactions is the way to a gamers heart.

RedTriangle533207d ago

I think EA prospers by thinking about money and how to rip off gullible teenagers.
I'm sure I'd prosper too if I could pump out broken AAA games at 16 games per second and sell them for 60 dollars a copy.

Chaosdreams3207d ago

Ya, EA thinks about me alright, they think about how to take me for all I'm worth...and then tell me I like it that way.

Gold star for EA, you know, if gold stars are derived of feces.

There are no "thoughtful" ads in video games, EA

There are no thoughtful ads in Video Games, EA. Leave them be.

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

Hofstaderman15d ago

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Makersbreath215d ago

EA coming back for the crown of being perceived as the worst company in gaming.

Chocoburger14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.

Report: Sexual Misconduct Investigation Conducted at EA, Suspects Named and What They Did Revealed

EA senior staff has been investigated for sexual misconduct involving female coworkers, and these said people have been named publicly.

isarai21d ago

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga20d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole17d ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville18d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

ravens5220d ago

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_20d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville18d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM20d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka19d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_20d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.

Generative AI Will Allow Bigger, More Immersive Worlds, Says EA, and Developers Were 'Hungry' for It

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said generative AI will allow bigger, more immersive worlds, and the developers were very eager for it.

If you want a tool to reduce the time it takes to make a product, AI is a tool to do that. If you want a tool to just make content for you, AI is a poor crutch for good writing and storytelling.

Vits24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

I don't disagree. However, good writing and storytelling in games are still pretty rare. Honestly, AI as it is right now could probably produce output similar to, if not better than, your average experience. Especially because the main issue I see being thrown around for its use is the generation of ludonarrative problems. But, we have literal GotY winners that are incarnations of ludonarrative problems and written by humans. So if specialists don't care, would the average player even notice?

That said, from the perspective of improving the craft, AI will undoubtedly do more harm than good if used for that.

Christopher24d ago

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what we're getting out there right now is overall great from everyone. There are obviously a lot of bad writers out there. The problem is AI learning from bad writers. No thanks!

thorstein24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Time for AI to replace CEOS. That way, when it fails, as it inevitably will, there's no one to tell. The employees can continue to make games, get raises (no CEO bonuses), and there will no longer be bone headed decisions by id10Ts.

Christopher24d ago

Think how much easier it will be to fire an AI CEO than a real one! We've sacked Ocrulos AI CEO and will be replacing him with Kensho Technologies v3 CEO.

isarai24d ago

Honestly, that's the funny thing I find about AI. Is that it's the management and higher up positions that are the most perfectly replaceable positions with AI vs people at ground level.

CobraKai23d ago

I agree 100%. Think of all that money that can be freed for the masses

XiNatsuDragnel24d ago

Just ea man y'all embarrassing yourselves

anast23d ago

Games are about to get worse. AI will do most of the lifting, devs will polish the turd and prices will raise because of "the economy".

SimpleSlave23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

'Generative AI Will Allow Bigger, More Immersive Life>>>>>> >> Work Balance and Paychecks for our Employees, Says EA, and Developers Were 'Hungry' for It'
