Too Human demo raises questions

Timothy J. Seppala says..

"So after a lawsuit, countless delays, and a game engine redesign, a demo for Silicon Knights' Too Human is finally in my hands. After spending a fair bit of time with it, a play through with the three character classes available initially, I am comfortable in saying a few things:"

i liked it. fanboys can hate, the media can hate, everybody can hate, but what i played was a solid addicting game. it has a learning curve, but once you get the hang of things, its a very fun game. i could easily see this game scoring in 8-9 range

EDIT: nickel i see your point, its either going to be a hit or miss kind of game. i personally loved the demo.

thenickel5760d ago

I can see the game getting really good scores but we all know that certain reviewers are out for Denis. This game is going to rock and I will gladly spread the word the same way i always do when a good game is released..

Nevers5760d ago

I really liked the demo... went thru again last night as berserker. Seems like there's just more and more layers you find time for everytime you play. The cuztomization seems easy but very multi-faceted. I'm getting my pre-order in.

Initially, the controls were strange.. then immediately after I thought that "stick-combat" was brilliant. First play-thru was okay but on my second is when the game really started presenting it's possibilities to me... on 5th playthru.

mariusmal5760d ago

yup, they have my spport and money

kevnb5760d ago

all thats important is the game seems like it will be fun to play. Do you ever hear people saying, "I think the Dark Knight movie will score well"? No people were saying, "Dark Knight looks like it will be awesome." Point is, who really cares what some reviewer thinks? Does someones opinion who is pressured to give a game a certain score really matter?

I like how he points out all the flaws, and then the final thoughs are

(With all that being said though, I can't wait to get my hands on the final version. The loot system and weapon/armor upgrades system are incredibly deep and the story has definitely caught my attention. I'm sure that after the first half hour or so I will get fully used to the controls and camera.)

x THE CHEETAH x5760d ago

I noticed that too... he practically bashes it for most of the article and then finishes with saying that he can't wait to get his hands on the final version. His writing style needs work.

Mr_Bun5760d ago (Edited 5760d ago )

Totally...why is it that all these people who "review" the game then post, seem to be so negative, but the people like you and I (general public/people who are going to buy the game/people who really matter) seem to actually find the game fun? It almost seems like there are a lot of people who "want" the game to fail, but why? I like his wording @ the end too..."the camera sucks, death scene sucks, controls suck, but the game is pretty good"...Way to try and sound positive!

InMyOpinion5760d ago

Like most journalists this dude spends more time writing than gaming. If you click on his name you get to see a pic of his gamertag. http://blog.mlive.com/xbutt...

His gamerscore is only 7887. One would assume that a person who writes about games on a professional level(for a living even?) would automatically have a higher gamerscore.

I think this goes for most gaming journalists. They play the game for 5 mins then spend hours writing about their 'experience'. Sometimes they probably don't play the game at all, just get enough info from other articles to piece together an article.

NewSchoolGamer5760d ago

will be fun, maybe it wont be one of the best but telling from the demo it will be extremely fun.

x THE CHEETAH x5760d ago (Edited 5760d ago )

I'm looking forward to it... everyone needs to escape into a good science fiction story every now and then. Many people have already spent multiple hours just playing the demo. With the depth of character customization and co-op, I'll be very satisfied.

green5760d ago

Berserker all the way for me.But i am sure i will prefer to play co-op with someone using the defender, they are very tough to take down.

dachiefsman5760d ago

add me: Waveofchaos

I am going to be playing the S*** outta this game

green5760d ago

No problem buddy. My gamertag is GreenAvus.

NewSchoolGamer5760d ago (Edited 5760d ago )

think the fanboys are the ones doing all of the hating. the Sony fanboys aren't the ones that played the demo and they were the ones that started this whole issue of Too Human not being all of what it was cracked up to be. If anyone did any hating it was the people that played the demo. Sony fans probably just followed along like any fanboy would do.

I didn't play the demo for too long but I had some fun with it.

Too Human Free for Xbox Gamers - Download It Here

The action-RPG by now-defunct Silicon Knights is now free for Xbox gamers! Check out the Too Human free direct download link with armor sets here.

RazzerRedux1416d ago

Fun fact: I'm one of five people to have completed Too Human and actually liked it. It should be noted that the other four ended up in mental institutions....sadly.

excaliburps1416d ago

I completed it and kinda liked it. Controls were iffy but overall, I dug it. Shame Dyack was crazy. xD

IanTH1416d ago

Glad to hear it! So, when did you get out of the institution?

Marquinho1415d ago

Too Human was "The Order: 1886" of the 360.

Nitrowolf21416d ago (Edited 1416d ago )

I have never played this, mostly because I didn't own an Xbox prior to a few months ago Def. will check this out

darthv721416d ago

It certainly has a cool story and its a good game. it was just marred by long development time and kind of egotistical creator.

Looper1416d ago

Hey!! I was told survivors had all signed an NDA! I'm telling!

Kribwalker1416d ago

i really liked this one too. Always wished for a sequel, but sadly i don’t see it in the cards

excaliburps1416d ago

Yeah, it had a solid story and game mechanics. I remember the controls weren't smartly implemented, and every time you respawned, the animation was so long.

Fantangoooo1416d ago

I can't count the number of times I finished this game gridding for gear. Weird control but I liked it

Neonridr1416d ago

sounds very Polybius to me..

Poopmist1416d ago

Me and my friend beat it so many times. I got the best armor mathematically possible in it. Great game imo but their needed to be more tutorials on how runes work. The one that spawns singularities upon hitting someone was cash.

DerfDerf1416d ago

I actually really enjoyed it.

RamRod881416d ago

I beat it too. The controls were weird, but once I got use to them it was okay. I found the story to be actually half decent. Too bad there wasn't a sequel because I really believe if they have fixed the issues the first game had(controls, camera, etc), it could have been a great series.

HyperMoused1416d ago

I though it was great too, yay us

Anomander1416d ago

Beat it as well. it had a good story line. Overall it was decent.

glennhkboy1416d ago

I remember that I played the 1st stage. The control was so bad that I couldn't force myself to continue.

morganfell1415d ago

Fun fact...you're actually one of six :) That game was the reason I kept an Xbox 360 running until they released the very last B/C titles and it was among them.

Chronicle7801415d ago

I thought the game was ok, clunky but ok. Every time I go back to play it though it takes 20 minutes for the controls to 'click' again. Pity most of the advanced combos and controls aren't listed anywhere in the game.

Phoenix Down 87.0 – Too Human

Denis Dyack would disapprove.

darthv721664d ago

I liked this game. It has it's flaws but the story and mechanics are pretty good. It still holds up today.

Kribwalker1664d ago

i really enjoyed it when it came out.

It was free recently on xbox through BC. Id love to see this revived but sadly i think the legal issues would stop that
