Some time back during 2012, Sega released the sequel to Phantasy Star Online, entitled Phantasy Online 2. This was a true sequel to my beloved console MMO , not that steaming pile of crap known as Phantasy Star Universe that Sega pushed on us previously. In fact the mere mention of that game makes me feel dirty, so I won’t talk about it anymore. But back on the subject here, so Sega announced that PSO2 would be released in Japan (2012) and the North American markets later in 2013, and as such I was already getting hyped as I spent tons of time on the original title on the Dreamcast, Gamecube and even the PC. Yeah, I was really hooked on that game, but for good reason and it was my gateway drug to mainstream MMOs.
Some WoW-like MMORPGs are better than others. Here's a curated list that offers a wide variety of games that let you play with other people but have something unique to offer.
WoW is a mess and it will continue to be a mess. Still, the less-developed MMOs are going to have trouble gaining a fan base because they lack content right now. Even if people do flock to FF14 or BDO, they'll go back to WoW if they fix enough features or give players a shred of hope.
Blizzard is going through some stuff right now, and people are seeing the writing on the wall— World of Warcraft might not be the best game in which to invest your time at the moment.
Nah, I'll keep playing the game with the millions of other people. The writing on the wall says "game is not dead" even though people have claimed it is for 15 years.
With the release of a global server, this MMORPG is available on PC and Xbox. However, does Phantasy Star Online 2 have cross-platform play?
Here, let me save you the click: "Yes, Phantasy Star Online 2 does support cross-platform play between Xbox One and PC"
It didn't say ONLY for Japan at all, it's just got a release date of 2016 for Japan. It hasn't ruled out being released anywhere else yet at all. This is the first we have heard about it coming to the PS4, of course Japan is going to get a release date before anywhere else.
Its safe to assume that it's not coming to the US, seeing how the PC version has been announced since 2012. Was supposed to be released in 2013 and has been on indefinite hold since then. I wish there was some confirmation but this is Sega.
Look at the track record, that's all i'm saying.
Well if they truly meant what they said in winning gamers back and returning to a glory that rivals the 90's, Sega better release this game for the West.
