Making VR games is tough when you’re living in Brazil — just ask this former pie seller

Ana Ribeiro gave up everything to learn game design. She quit her steady government job, abandoned her flourishing empada business, sold her possessions, and left Brazil behind to study in the U.K.. So it’s perhaps no real surprise that the former pie maker didn’t let an expired U.K. visa stop her from building her innovative virtual reality game, Pixel Ripped 1989.

“Some of them asked, ‘What if the game was an MMO [massively multiplayer online game]?’ or ‘What if people could pay monthly?'” said Ribeiro.

This is why thigns like Kickstarter came about in the first place, investors are horrible people who don't care about the quality of a product, jsut how much money they can get out of it. Fair play to Ana Ribeiro for having a back bone and telling em to hump off.

I wish her and her co developer all the best in getting their brainchild off the ground running, i'm always amazed at the lengths indie developers go to just to get their vision made. It shows true love and passion and it's one of the reasons I get so pissed when people dismiss indie developers.

People who do that are just plain ignorant and clearly do not understand art or passion or commitment, they only understand commercialism and commodities and their a bane to society. Rocket to the sun for them!

I played this game last year at EGX and it pretty much blew my mind. Hopefully it will get some attention when VR hits the mainstream at the end of the year.

Sadly, the Kickstarter looks like it needs a lot more help.

"Kero Maiz" is a nice play on words, translates to; "I want more"

I love Pastels in Brasil so good!
