Hitman studio just wants to 'get back to Hitman'

""Hitman is 15 years old," IO Interactive head Hannes Seifert said. "That's a long time. Tastes change. It's time to get back to Hitman." That was Seifert's explanation for why the next game in the series has forgone a subtitle. However, it may as well have served as the mission statement for how the studio plans to develop Hitman.

In our hands-off demo, it was apparent that IO Interactive wanted to accomplish two major goals. One of those was to construct intricate and interesting levels. The other, which piggybacks off the first and is more integral, is that the developer is really taking strides to give the player options."

You can't wait on the live events. Those will be one time only things.

The content is free, might as well get it as the content comes as suppose to missing out on live events.

They want to track what players do most and add on certain missions based on what the community is seeking.

A retail release to my understanding is coming later next year or the year after, but I see no benefit to waiting and missing out on those live events.

Right from the article.

"One of the major planned features is an assassination mission that rotates out every two days or so. The catch is that players are only given a single try. If they botch it, the target gets away and they have a black mark on their permanent record"

But you'll miss out all the awesome monthly contests where a target will appear for 48-36 hours and you need to engage in a game of deduction to sort his identity and take him out creatively.

Had no idea, I may consider it, Thanks everyone!

An episode based game where each episode is free. So I'm okay with it. I too would rather have the full game day one, but since it's full on free, I can live with it. I will gladly get this game day one, and play each episode. Because if it's like traditional Hitman, it should be worth it.

It’s the 25th anniversary this year?

I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.

Super lacklustre

A Deep Dive On all Things Hitman With The Voices Behind Agent 47 And Diana Burnwood

From PSU: "Ten years ago, the Hitman franchise was in a transitory state. Blood Money had become something of a classic and with Hitman Absolution there was a clear decision to push IO Interactive’s assassination sim series to a whole new level. That experimental, often divisive, entry turned out to be pivotal in what would follow.

Elements of Absolution, such as its accessibility and player-created content, would be mixed with the more traditional Hitman games’ sense of murderous creativity to birth the Hitman Trilogy 0f 2016-2021. A series that would take its creators on a turbulent journey of publisher changes, independence, and the eventual triumph of being handed the tantalizing 007 license."
