It's A Tragedy That Rare Replay Isn't On A Nintendo Console

Resigned to the fact that Rare Replay will remain an Xbox One exclusive until the end of time, I've no real option but to recommend it in the highest manner possible to those of you who happen to own Microsoft's current home console. Not only is it a brilliantly constructed tribute to one of the world's most esteemed game-makers, but it also offers insane value for money and delivers a solid illustration of just how important Nintendo's hardware has been to the evolution of not just this one, legendary studio, but the games industry as a whole.

I wish Microsoft and Nintendo could come to an agreement to release Diddy Kong Racing on the Virtual Console, it's not like MS would be losing any money because of it but it would be great for fans and effectively promote Banjo & Kazooie franchise when the next Xbox One game is released..

The only traggic thing I can think of is Nintendo blocking Golden Eye to be released on X360; thus, it is missing in this collection on XB1.

Nintendo clearly doesn't have a problem cooperating with MS on Rare releases, Phil said so.

I think it has to do with the Bond license more than anything.

On the topic of the article, maybe if Nintendo bought the company when it was in its prime it wouldn't have fallen off like it did. Don't get me wrong, still a great studio with a lot of talent, but not the same Rare. Hopefully they will prove themselves with a new IP of their own.

Yeah when I was a kid/teen Rare was Nintendo. They were the same. It's odd to see Rare on another platform sometimes. It's a shame Donkey Kong Country 1-3 couldn't be in this for obvious reasons. Still a great set I'm interested in.

It's not a tragedy that it isn't on a Nintendo console, it's a tragedy that Microsoft wasted Rare's potential, seeing all these great older games together defiantly gets me thinking about the Rare that might had been, Nintendo used Rare to bring in the older audience and Microsoft did the opposite and used them to try and bring in the younger audience, which is one of the reason I think things went wrong with the company, now most of the original talent at Rare has moved on, a lot of which who didn't like the direction Microsoft took the company and were not proud of the products they were putting out. Anyways this is the best thing that Rare has came out with since being bought, even if it's mostly content that wasn't created while under Microsoft.

Wasn't a tragedy when Nintendo out right sold their 49% stake in rare 350 million . So theirs no tragedy now or .

It's more of a tragedy that I received an email this morning (release day!) from Amazon UK telling me that there had been an 'unexpected delay' and I won't get a copy until the 10th!

If they ran out of stock I suspect they would have known a few days ago. To not inform me until release day is crap. I preordered as soon as Rare Replay was announced.

I cancelled my order. Will get it from another retailer. No trust in Amazon any more, it's not the first time this has happened to people.

Is sad, but not too sad. We as Nintendo gamers got to play these games in their pomp. Playing them now - while the majority still undoubtedly great - will never be the same as playing each on its initial release.

As a consolation at least Wii U gets Donkey Kong Country and Land Trilogy along with Donkey Kong 64
