Rare Replay: The Greatest Gaming Deal in History?

So there are a couple of things that are a constant in the games industry, more specifically the new generation of consoles. The first of which is the remastering of older games to make quick money for the studio because apparently old fans with eat up HD graphics on their otherwise perfect games! The second of which is trying to give consumers as much content as possible for their money, and trying to give consumers the best price fitting the content. This collection of games is going to take both of these philosophies and combine them into something massive for gamers, both old and new. The Rare Replay is going to be a huge hit this year. Here’s why.

[edit] Crazay beat me to it.

So what? 'just 360 backwards compat games?' Just those 360 games alone for 16 quid would have been great.

The games span so many generations and to think there are all the 360 Rare games included...all for 16 quid! It has to be one of the best if not THE best gaming deals ever

suckingeggs3225d ago (Edited 3225d ago )

@crazay

Thanks dude

Edit.. No Goldeneye? Like my favourite rare game ever.. Oh and diddy Kong racing..

Excited to play banjo kazooie again though hopefully Its 1080p

Halo:MCC was also unbelievable value, so it is hard to pick. A lot of great value on Xbox One these days.

Crazay3225d ago

I can't talk much about the release since the embargo doesn't lift until next Monday but the price is pretty solid for what amounts to a crapload of games that span many generations.

Rose Tinted Glasses on

Looking to get a game on with Gunfight, loved that on the spectrum, running around the cowboy town in your two leafed pantomime horse searching out the baddies.

Unique British comical genius that was Ultimate Play the Game.

Its a great enough deal to consider buying an Xbox One sometime in the future

Genuine-User3225d ago

It is. I can't think of any other collection even remotely comparable at such a fantastic price.

MadLad3225d ago

I'm a PC guy.

Please link me to this supposed 360 emulator that is working properly, with all of those listed titles, at this point.

MRHARDON3225d ago

Give Xenia, the xbox 360 emulator a few more months and I think we will be set.

SaveFerris3225d ago

An attack of nostalgia. I can't remember seeing another video game compilation of that size released for such a reasonable price.

LeCreuset3225d ago

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Cost $30 USD at release. Add that to the collection if you don't have a copy. The original Mario All-Stars was great bang for the buck when it was released, too. Still kicking myself for trading it in.

donthate3225d ago

Add inflation from over a decade ago and that value looks a lot different, but yeah Super Mario All-Stars was awesome!

LeCreuset3225d ago (Edited 3225d ago )

Yup. First time I'd ever traded in games and the last. I blame my parents for letting me do something so stupid. LOL

Looking back to 2015 and the Time Capsule that was Rare Replay

As an Xbox website, it would be remiss to say that the Xbox One has had its’ detractors this generation. After stumbling about with their Xbox One reveal a few years before, Microsoft and their gaming brand were in a period of transition. But Rare Replay had another trick up its sleeve to appeal to a core Xbox audience. Their announcement promised 30 games priced at £20, with 10000 Gamerscore. It was an achievement hunters wet dream.

None of those games are "Xbox One Exclusives".

What if I wrote an article about these same game and said they were "PC exclusive"? lol...Xbox fans would erupt.

RazzerRedux1465d ago

Correction: "Rare Replay" is indeed Xbox One exclusive. The rest are on PC.

russo1211464d ago

Moral of the story - if you want to play exclusives you must have a PlayStation, it's the best bet.

BQ321464d ago

I personally only bought the Xbox one when i did because I had to have Titanfall. That game is so underrated in how it revolutionized the movement in the genre.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1464d ago

None of those games is exclusive to Xbox One. Rare Replay is a collection of Nintendo games and the rest are available on Steam.

lellkay1464d ago (Edited 1464d ago )

Rare replay has a bunch of older Rare Nintendo games on it, but also has a selection of Xbox and Xbox360 exclusives on it which are not available on steam (Grabbed by the Ghoulies, PDZ, Kameo,Viva Pinata etc)

Rare Replay is an exclusive in terms of the overall one proudct package and its surprisingly decent for the cost, but I think it really shows how dire a situation it is when people are having to put Rare Replay on a list trying to promote Xbox Exclusives... Jesus its been a hard gen for people who only bought Xbox's.
