Hitman Closed Alpha Build Is A CPU Hog - Intel i5 4690K Barely Holds 30FPS, GTX970 Cannot Hit 60FPS

Hitman’s closed alpha testing is currently under way and it appears that the game has major performance issues. Of course we should not judge the end product by an alpha build, however a Titan X seems unable to maintain constant 60fps at 1080p with all settings at Ultra.

Well, it is an alpha build...

Mega243202d ago

I love when people expect polished non bugged alphas....

decrypt3201d ago

I remember when badcompany 2 was in Beta i had a HD 5870. The game was a mess. As soon as the Final build was released the same 5870 was touching 60fps maxed out.

ChronoJoe3201d ago

Yeah, stupid journalism, that's why even the articles excerpt states that they acknowledge it's only an alpha at this stage.

The article is informative. Not very interesting to me, but informative none the less. Certainly not stupid, although I could see how it may be perceived as such if you're especially adverse to actually reading anything but the title.

JackStraw3201d ago

Most people here don't read the article. They read the title and then comment, move to the next article, read the title, then comment, rinse & repeat.

WalterWJR3202d ago

The last hitman ran like crap so not really surprising.

MadLad3202d ago

Square Enix allows for actual PC versions of their games. At least as of recent.
Of course they are going to be demanding, at least when trying to max them out.

But, let's be honest, I was running the thing maxed, 60 fps+, at all but the most demanding of sections on a single 680.

That's actual great, considering how good the game looked.

devileyed3202d ago

This alpha actually runs much better under load. Barely hit 30fps with default settings but cranked everything up and set it to just below 4K and it jumped up to around 54-59.
It's very promising though. My only gripe is that stupid way he fires handguns left over from absolution. wish they'd use the kane and lynch animation.

Xbonewone320153202d ago

PC gaming is just not optimised.

My personal preference is to stick with consoles. A little bit less of the graphical fidelity, a tenth of the price, better exclusives, and games that actually work as they are intended to work.

Eiffel3202d ago (Edited 3202d ago )

So the Master Chief Collection's multiplayer was intended to be broken for months? Was Rocket League intended to melt PS4s?

That isn't an issue exclusive to just PCs. Consoles have their own history with that as well.

bmwfanatic3202d ago

Rocket leagues ps4 issues were fixed in week and it didnt melt ps4 s. Compare that to mcc on xbox or batman on pc.

ChronoJoe3201d ago

Oh c'mon, Rocket League did not melt PS4s. It made the fans engage at a greater than normal rate, there was no evidence it could harm a console.

wellard3202d ago

While I'm now a console guy myself I have to disagree with you on a certain level. Plenty of times this gen we've already had loads and loads of unoptimised glitchy games. I think some Devs, some not all, can be completely lapsidasicle regarding quality regardless of platform. Some Devs just see us gamers as cows that need to be milked.

Baka-akaB3202d ago (Edited 3202d ago )

Dude it has nothing to do with consoles or pc , it has to do with a game being in alpha state , and thus with its expected set of problems and things to optimize and iron out .

It's about a pool of people testing a set of features and mechanics , while probably on an already outdated build of the game , with a studios still advancing and working ...

Your console alpha will most likely be as shaky and dicey , if you ever get to test for a closed one

ChronoJoe3201d ago

Indeed.

Street Fighter Vs beta, which is on console, isn't working properly at the moment for all of Europe. The game does not even load.

Beta is beta, alpha is alpha. While the animations and graphical assets are usually in place at these stages it's to be expected for them to be riddled with bugs and technical issues.

Psychotica3202d ago

Really? I have a PC and a PS4 and there hasn't been that many good PS4 exclusives worth bragging about. Also, it's not just about graphic fidelity, it's about performance where many times the PC clearly outperforms the consoles. That difference will continue to widen as the current consoles age and PC owners swap out single components to upgrade.

Seafort3202d ago

WTF? It's a fking alpha. Optimisation comes last. Maybe you should stick to your dude bro games and spare everyone your deluded "wisdom".

The only reason Batman Arkham Knight didn't work on PC was because WB Games wanted to save money and cut corners and hire a 12 man dev company to do what Rocksteady already did with consoles all within a few months.

They are now paying for their utter lack of integrity and pure greed. It's going to cost them a whole lot more now to fix the PC version than it would have if they'd done a proper job in the first place.

I bet this alpha wouldn't even work on the consoles at this early stage as they don't have the brute force to push through the lack of optimisation like PCs do.

Btw better exclusives is subjective. I prefer PC exclusives to console exclusives and there's a lot more of them than on consoles you just don't know about them.

freshslicepizza3202d ago

@Xbonewone32015

pc rigs can be optimized to play lower frame rates such as 30fps like most console games. what you are talking about are games that push the limits of the hardware like the witcher 3 and assassins creed unity. both of which struggled to maintain a steady 30 fps on consoles.

this game is in alpha build, which is before beta. it will be more optimized as time goes on. that's the whole purpose of alpha builds and it's not available on consoles yet.

did you not hear about street fighter v on the ps4, they shut down the servers until they fix it. that is in beta not even alpha. so don't act like consoles get games that always work as intended. the master chief collection and driveclub are perfect examples of how games are not supposed to work online.

Two-Face3202d ago (Edited 3202d ago )

"better exclusives". Like what? Bloodborne? That's the only game you guys can brag about that makes PC player jelous. Everyone know that Killzone:SF, Driveclub, LittleBigPlanet 3, Order 1886 and Knack bombed heavily.

While on the PC. You alone have Cities Skylines, Pillars of Eternity, Heroes of the Storm, and Kerbal Space Progam this year alone that are only on PC to this day. All those games have gotten good critical acclaim. While we also have Ori and Elite:Dangerous that are not on PS4. And Rocket League that is not on Xbone.

So do some research next time before you talk out of your ass again.

Perjoss3202d ago

a tenth of the price? what exactly are you smoking

NotanotherReboot3202d ago

I prefer PC cos you dont abandon all your game from last gen when you move to next gen and have to rebuy them as "HD remasters"

MadLad3202d ago

"a tenth of the price".

Lol . . . please.

jmc88883202d ago (Edited 3202d ago )

1/10th the price?

What do you buy premade PC's? Not just premade PC's, but Alienware?

Sorry, at this point in time you can get something twice as good as a PS4, or 3x of a Xbox One, for just a little more then the original price of an Xbox One.

Just wait until next year, $600-700 will likely buy you 5-7x an Xbox One with Nvidia Pascal.

Oh and of course, you can always buy a decent PC, keep that PC, and just switch out the video card every few years. Bam, new generation, just $400 upgrade or so.

Better exclusives? Huh? Each platform has exclusives, except really Xbox One, because most of those come out on PC, and look and run alot better.

So really, if you want to play 99.9 percent of the games, buy a Wii U, PS4, and PC.

Also PC has 10x the exclusives.

No, personally I don't think games that run at 20 FPS as working... you might though. Especially not at 792-900p.

Your personal preference is fine, but since you're wrong about all the things you list that you base your faulty rationale off of, perhaps being honest with yourself or simply not ignorant, you might find a better experience.

It's always funny when people say their personal preference is to make a decision based off of bs.

Also why are you coming out of the woodwork to 'confrim' your ignorance based off an ALPHA to a video game. Hitman or any ALpha doesn't necessarily run well.

I wonder how THIS would run on an Xbox One.

RedDevils3201d ago (Edited 3201d ago )

Agree, but PC master race nerds is gonna hunt you down! lol

BeefCurtains3201d ago

Disagree, but console dorks gonna be blind fanboys...

Pixelart3201d ago

The game runs at 30fps on PC in its current Alpha state. Which is about the FPS you'll get on a console when it's polished anyway.
I thought it's pretty obvious by now most the PC crowd don't consider 30fps acceptable. Some don't even consider 60fps limited as acceptable.
I don't see how playing it on a weak ass console is any kind of solution.

_-EDMIX-_3201d ago

....the slowness is real.

This game is just not optimized and its also in alpha so....why give it a final verdict on an alpha? That is like saying "Console games always have bugs because I played the Destiny alpha"

When a game has bugs on console, there is no work around.....you just have to wait for them to fix it, many times on PC, the community will have many gamers with their own work arounds for the time being.

All games have bugs and "better" is subjective.

I game on both sooooo.

I would NEVER only game on console OR ONLY on PC.

Both is my route, I'm not missing exclusives on PC based on some generation on an alpha. Also btw, RTS games are almost all exclusive to PC your missing a series of exclusives, some of which have never and might never grace a PC.

Don't let some alpha stop your from missing many, many games.

Xbonewone320153201d ago

Played one RTS, played em all.

I find the genre boring as hell.

Tried it, it's true, i5 3570k @ 4GHz and GTX 970, 25-40fps with 50% GPU usage. But people, this is an Alpha. That means it's not even close to being finished. Considering how well Absolution ran, I've no worries at all.

Peace_Love_and_FPS3202d ago

Funny because my exact setup is 970 and i5-4690k, so I'm not all too concerned :D

It’s the 25th anniversary this year?

I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.

A Deep Dive On all Things Hitman With The Voices Behind Agent 47 And Diana Burnwood

From PSU: "Ten years ago, the Hitman franchise was in a transitory state. Blood Money had become something of a classic and with Hitman Absolution there was a clear decision to push IO Interactive’s assassination sim series to a whole new level. That experimental, often divisive, entry turned out to be pivotal in what would follow.

Elements of Absolution, such as its accessibility and player-created content, would be mixed with the more traditional Hitman games’ sense of murderous creativity to birth the Hitman Trilogy 0f 2016-2021. A series that would take its creators on a turbulent journey of publisher changes, independence, and the eventual triumph of being handed the tantalizing 007 license."
