‘Rare Replay': 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Lauded video game developer/publisher Rare is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary. Gamers have come to appreciate Rare’s brand of titles, which have excelled due to their excellent game design and innovative concepts.

Microsoft wants to make sure gamers of all generations become a lot more familiar with Rare’s storied past. Rare Replay will arrive on August 4 with the biggest game compilations released on the Xbox one thus far. Not only will fans play the finest releases in Rare’s catalog, but they’ll also get a special look into the company’s background history.

Yep might even be time for me to take the plunge and get an Xbox one finally, sunset overdrive, halo collection and rare replay should keep me busy for a while Never got round to Conkers fur day (those darn £60 N64 games) but blast corps has been top of my most wanted remake list or just simple port, loved that game Jet force Gemini and all the other N64 games and all the games from the other formats.. Bargain.

Trust me you wont be dissapointed. Whether as secondary console to your PS4 or as your main console ( as is the case with me) X1 has all sorts of gems coming. I highly recommend FH2, MCC and ori as well. Neverwinter, smite and soon gigantic are brilliant f2p games.

and on the indie front, Ashen, below, inside and cuphead amongst others will be well worth checking out. Jump in, fella! any talk of resolution wont matter after you spend your first 30 mins getting used to the controller, UI/OS and of course the games.

I never got to play Jet force so I want to try that out but I've also never played Banjo-tooie.

I loved the first Banjo game but haven't played it in forever so I'm going to play those in order.

R.C. Pro Am might be the first game I try though.

I haven't played it since the 90's but I miss it a lot.

I should have never sold my NES/Sega games.

Same here. Tempted to buy a WiiU for the virtual console just so I can play those games again. I used to love balloon fight, gyromite, rad racer and wrath of black manta on NES. And time soldiers, shinobi, the ninja, rastan, kensieden, zilllion etc. for master system.

1) it works out at less than £1/$1 per game.
2) Conkers bad fur day is worth the entry cost on its own (check eBay)
3) Blast corps, jet force Gemini and both Banjo's plus perfect dark that's 5 Epic N64 games right there.
4) another 20+ games on top of the ones mentioned and
5) if you shop around you can get it with a battle toads t shirt other than that enjoy the Games when they come out they could see you through until Christmas.

hmm, can someone help me here. i was never played a lot of these games and i'm not a big retro gamer. do you think this collection will be good for me?

questions:
1. what systems do these games span? i know viva piñata was on 360 and conquer was on N64. where the other games in the list on super nintendo and nes?

2. if i'm not that into retro games that are not old school mario's will i like this?

3. are any of these games truly great games? like did they garner 9s and 10s and perfect review scores at the time? or are they just game for nostalgic players?

like for example i know that golden eye was an amazing game for the time, but thats not included. and maybe donkey kong country on snes was amazing at the time, but those are not included either. are any of these old games considered masterpieces?

Zx spectrum, NES, N64, Xbox and xbox 360. there are no snes games because if memeory serves me correct they worked on nintendo IP during that era, mostly. donky kong and that racing game that use the super FX chip.

Best way to answer that one would be to check out the original titles on youtube. Hard to say. I like lots of games from the 80s and 90s so this works for me. But you might need to check out the games in the package to see if its your kind of retro games. I will say solar jetman is amazing though. Think old school zelda meets metroid. lots of exploration in ship and platforming on foot. A really..and I do mean REALLY good game.

IMO, perfect dark zero is the only dud. The zx spectrum games (saberwulf, knightlore and gunfright)may feel too dated even by a retro fans tastes. The rest will be totally worth the asking price in my opinion. I loved the rest of the package. Especially the N64 and NES games.
