After reviewing this, we have made the decision to raise the price of all of our multi-channel plans by $5."
Same here and with Netflix, prime and HBO all competing for my time?! It's only $5, but that adds up over time.
Sadly that’s the reality of TV services. Internet streaming services have held off for a long while considering the space was pretty open for them to offer low price points but now with more and more people switching over broadcasters are gonna demand more money like they already do with cable/satelites

Eh, the reason they're asking for more and more is to push people to use their own streaming services now. CBS All Access, NBC, etc. It's the primetime companies that are causing the majority of headaches in the streaming arena as they refocus on creating their own services rather than focusing on creating new and better programming that can be offered for premium prices to established streaming services.
It wasn't when I got it. It was actually the cheapest. But I just saw Youtube TV which is actually extremely cheap. But I swear it's hard to keep up with all these streaming TV services, it seems someone is suggesting a new a different one every day.
Vue was $20 when it launched. It shot up to $35 at 5 buck every few months... I was suckered in because I was getting "free upgrades" to the Elite package until it hit $45. I was only getting the same shows and channels over and over again so I finally tapped out. I have Netflix and Prime which is more than I need. Netflix gets better daily.
If I remember correctly it started from 35 and 45, And it was more expensive than the others but it also offered more than the rest including local channels, live “cable” plus streaming capabilities (If that makes sense) and recording option. It was always more expensive but at the time I was investigating, it didn’t have equals if you were looking to get something with cable-like service and a very useful search system. Since then all services have gone through so many changes that I don5 think anyone can keep track. Fo4 example at the time no other service had recording capabilities. Now they all do. I can’t attest as to what Vue is like now as I couldn’t keep the service because I really needed the Tennis channel for my dad. At that time Vue was totally worth it because you were getting cable + streaming (something no one else was offering) and a top notch interface.
It's about in line with other services. I guess it depends on how much you value the content on it versus the monthly cost. Vue has a decent amount of good content compared to some of the other services out there which have a lot of filler.
I don't think Vue is doing as much of their own content as Amazon or Netflix though. I don't personally sub to the service. I don't watch enough TV, and my wife is content with netflix, and I have Amazon for the shipping, so get prime as well.
PSVue was positioning itself to be a direct replacement for cable, but with a streaming service. While others were just doing the spurious content to try and attract customers. PSVue is trying to be more like Hulu, but better. I'll let others judge if they achieved that, but I think that given the content they'd need to be an actual cable substitute, it's likely going to end up costing more and more.
I stopped watching TV years ago. Now that documentaries are a rare occurrence almost every channel is now a reality tv channel, I see no reason to watch TV and support stupid people.
Same reason I got Youtube TV until they recently increased it from $40 to $50 due to adding Discovery and HGTV. A 25% increase for adding channels I don't watch. Now I don't have anything but an antenna for local channels.
The way things are heading, streaming and netflix and are going to cost the same as cable/dish at this point. When you have Prime, PLUS Netflix and other services, its really getting to a point where its the same as cable
And that's why I'm expecting consolidation in the streaming space. There are just far too many of them for them all to be profitable. We will see some shutdown while others merge to save costs.
Streaming TV isn't really about getting money from user subscriptions. It's about getting money from smart advertising (or targeted ads.).
Companies pay a lot of money to put an ad on TV without any guarantee how many people will see it and how many people will connect with it (dumb advertising). With streaming services though they can make sure the ad gets to people who actually care about it. And they can directly measure the effectiveness of the ad. That's worth way more to a company and so they're willing to pay way more
I've found myself having to become more and more particular about what I subscribe to because it's becoming outrageous how much it costs monthly to consume content.
It's only going to get worse as all the individual channels decide to throw their hat in the ring. CBS is already doing it. It's nice for things like HBO, as when you do that with cable, they often have you get other channels you don't want in a package.
All these streaming services are gonna end up costing more than signing up to DirectV.
I mean you're gonna have to subscribe to 10 different streaming services to watch everything you want.
