More than 21 million viewers tuned in to Twitch earlier this month to check out E3. These are nearly double the number of last year's viewers. Twitch revealed these staggering statistics yesterday along with other insights. Twitch's coverage included live press conferences from Microsoft, Sony and other big companies that preceded the official start of the conference. With that out of the way, now we get to the most interesting part. So who do you think had the most popular press conference?
Twitch said events from Microsoft and EA attracted the most viewers at any single time. They beat out Sony, Bethesda, Square Enix and Ubisoft easily. While Twitch didn't provide specifics, they said that overall concurrent viewership peaked at 840,000 during these two events. Considering that Microsoft led mine share during E3, it's not surprising that they along with EA were the most popular.
The Xbox brand has done a lot of good over the years, but their various blunders are pretty wild to look back on in their magnitude.
Ironically number 9 can save them at this point (releasing games on multiple platforms)
Phil Spencer is the worst that has happened to Xbox.
They built a respectable brand up to Xbox one. Then this guy took over and things became a joke
Really good video.
I remember the days with RRoD was big news on here, N4G.
Microsoft had it turbulence number of years.
Looking at the success of Sea of Thieves despite being 6 years old, time to release Halo, Forza horizon 4 & 5 on PS5. It'll help their revenue
I found this video painful to watch. Can someone list them out?
Top 10 for me from are:
1. 2013 reveal presentation
2. Bundling Kinect 2 with Xbox One
3. RRoD or why rushing to market with hardware is always a bad idea.
4. Buying studios only to close them.
5. Ads on the Home Screen
6. Letting Halo die.
7. Letting Geard of War die.
8. Every console name
9. Charging for Xbox Live on Xbox 360 when Sony let PS3 players play online for free.
10. Cancelling release of OG Xbox games after the Xbox 360 launched.
Microsoft recently revealed its plans to incorporate Copilot directly into video games, with Minecraft being the first showcased example.
F*** AI
"Hey Copilot, what's a good meme to prove I dislike AI".... https://giphy.com/clips/sou...
Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.
It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.
Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.
Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.
There are no thoughtful ads in Video Games, EA. Leave them be.
I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.
But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.
One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.
I missed EA but I read it was pretty much the worse conference besides Nintendo's showing.
LOL...EA
Are they serious
Just for that I don't think I can take this seriously. All EA did was "Sports, Sports and more sports......oh and the actual good games"
As for the Sony one, isnt it understandable that there were certain parts of the world especially Europe asleep during their time based on the very early morning time on their conference
And 21 million viewers for the whole of E3 is actually not so good even if we take out casual console owners
I agree, it was better in the set as a whole. The MS was the best:
Several major AAA Games this year.
Forza, Halo, Tomb Raider, Gear Remake, Fable ...
Several major AAA games to the next.
Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, Sea of the Thieves ...
Backward compatibility
Xbox Elite control
New Dash Board
Indies
Price cut.
The Sony impressed in nostalgia and Hype.Horizon had, moreover was more multi games and for years to come.
I re-watched the MS conference part when they announced BC for like 30 times. It is the single biggest announcement at E3 and not surprise the MS conference was the most popular. Well played team Spencer!
