I think this is like the millionth time I see Xbox One getting the lower resolution but this issue isn't really this big

You read it wrong lol

EDIT:Nice stealth edit!

mikeslemonade3225d ago

Meh.. normally I'd make fun of the X1, but this game is pretty boring.

Madden is enough of a rpg for me. The attributes really make Madden like a chess match.

Lol madden a chess match.

mikeslemonade3224d ago

^
You don't know football if you don't think the strategy is as in-depth as chess. There's even more variables actually. Such as if you have a 315lb lineman blocking a 210lb cornerback the linemen should be able to win that encounter everytime but sometimes the cornerback chop block the linemen.

I just don't like how they try to make everything a turn-based strategy like XCOM. I think that's overrated. I don't have time in my life to spend hours on something that can happen in a matter of minutes.

Beeker3224d ago (Edited 3224d ago )

Look at this nerd arguing about the strategy in chess compared to madden. Nerd

The power-gap is undeniable. Resolution advantage isn't news anymore.

GMR_PR3225d ago

Agree, 900p on XBO is expected.

oasdada3225d ago

True.. when will these pointless articles stop i wonder

No Way3225d ago (Edited 3225d ago )

@oasdada - When the "console war" ends. Cause it's not only 'fanboys' but the websites, journalists, writers, etc. that continue to add fuel to the flame.

Mr_Luke3225d ago

@Genuine-User

People still disagree with that, i don't understand why. Denial? Ignorance? Blind fanboysm?

"But you don't notice the differences". Ok, whatever, but 1080 is still bigger than 900. Those extra pixels are there because one of the console is more powerful than the other one.

peshkavusCA3224d ago

How is the gap powerful when there is only a couple of resolution difference? /smh

XanderZane3224d ago

After Forza 6 1080P 60fps, weather and night condition with 24 cars in multiplayer, it really isn't an issue anymore. That problem isn't with the XB1 hardware, it's with the developers who don't know how to program on it. Maybe Win10/DX12 will help them see the light. Stop using old API that wasn't made for the system to begin with. End of July can't come soon enough. This game looks like it's going to suck as well.

S2Killinit3224d ago

if someone has both consoles, these articles are kind of necessary I think. that way they can get the version they want, with the knowledge of what they are getting.

Kyizen3224d ago

If someone goes to you and says "You can get this or this, the 2nd one is slightly better but their the same price' what are you going to chose?

dantesparda3224d ago

@Xanders

"After Forza 6 1080P 60fps, weather and night condition with 24 cars in multiplayer, it really isn't an issue anymore. Really? You think that Forza 6 which just looks like Forza 5 is somehow proof that X1 can do 1080p/60fps on all games? And that its just the devs fault and that DX12 is going to save the day? Wow! just wow! Talk about both naïve and ignorant.

That's okay considering Payday 2 the XB1 wins at 1080p/30 with 16x AF instead of the PS4 trilinear. That elusive AF on the PS4 continues.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Genuine-User3225d ago

Yep, PS4 isn't capable of producing 16x AF. Pack your bags PlayStation.
/s

fr0sty3225d ago

They recently updated the API tools to make AF easier to implement, and it's likely this game was so far along in development by the time they released that they didn't bother updating it... as recently far better looking games than this have had 16xAF on PS4.

gosukyomomma3225d ago

You forgot to add the comment "the xboxone version has SEVERE problems" didnt hear them say that about the ps4 did ?...

MRMagoo1233225d ago

right from the article "Spoilers: Xbox One has severe problems right now"

dantesparda3224d ago

And that's ok considering most games on the PS4 win by usually having a better framerate and higher res. That elusive 1080p on the X1 continues.

ThanatosDMC3224d ago

Well, honestly crimewave edition is a poor port on the consoles. We didnt get the extra guns, fire weapons, high res textures, proper optimization, etc. Why my crappier gaming laptop loads missions faster than my PS4 and looks a lot better is beyond me.

Overkill needs to patch the console version with updates to make it on par with the PC. Instead we got something from a PS3 or 360.

Have a look at this list, I like it because I own both consoles and sometimes I'm not sure which version of a game to buy:

http://uk.ign.com/wikis/xbo...

It's rare but some games do get patched though, Destiny was 900p when it released on Xbox One, but now it runs at 1080p.

fr0sty3225d ago (Edited 3225d ago )

Destiny is also a game designed to run on last gen systems, with resolution being the only major difference between that and their current gen counterparts. Not exactly a major accomplishment to get more pixels per frame out of it with that considered.

Sciurus_vulgaris3225d ago

I watch digital foundry to decide which system to get my games on if its multiplatform. I got witcher 3 on XB1 and picked up Arkham Knight for PS4 based on how the game framerate performanced. I might sometime pick one console over the other for other reasons. MP shooters I might get on XB1 over PS4 due to friends and controller preference.

xxLuckyStrike3224d ago

Devs coming up short this gen on both consoles= FACT I do see quite a few more notable 1080/30 ps4 games and many 900/60 XboxOne games. Devs picking their poison and making allowances i guess. I will say MS 1st party devs have been pretty consistant with 1080/60 as expected, Aside from KI

dantesparda3224d ago

@lucky

Other than Forza, what other 1080p/60fps does MS have? And don't say remakes. Also PS4
has more games that are 1080p and more games that are 1080p/60fps.

Titanfall 1408x792p @ 60fps with a lot of framedrops and tearing
Sunset Overdrive 900p @ 30fps which also drops
Ryse: Son of Rome 900p @ 30fps with drops to the teens
Kinect Sports Rivals 1080p @ 30fps
Halo: MCC 1080p @ 60fps with plenty of drops and Halo 2 is 1328x60fps with drops and is a REMAKE.
Killer Instinct Season 1: 720p @ 60fps
Season 2: 900p @ 60fps
Forza Horizon 2 1080p @ 30fps
Dead Rising 3 720p @ 30fps with drops into the teens

xxLuckyStrike3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

@dantesparda

Most of that mess you listed i believe were rushed for Xbox One console launch. I love how you clearly point out frame drops as most games do on every console. And i love how you mentioned Halo 2 isnt full 1080/60 but left out all other halo titles are 1080/60

Titanfall 1408x792p @ 60fps **Rushed**

Sunset Overdrive 900p @ 30fps **thats on insomniac**

Ryse: Son of Rome 900p @ 30fps **rushed 4 day 1 and is still one of the best looking games this gen**

Kinect Sports Rivals 1080p @ 30fps ** meh idc**

Halo: MCC 1080p @ 60fps **it is what it is

Halo 2 is 1328x60fps **yes they did say halo 2 is the Only EXCEPTION. Halo 1,3,Odst 4 and 5 are all 1080/60 Forza 5 1080/60 Forza 6 1080/60.

***I cant help but mention how KillZONE:SF and now UC4 2 of psfanboys holy grail exclusives are both gimped according to your logic. 30Fps with notable dips and studders on both games. Guerilla and ND are 1st party..

Soo What happen. Microsofts 1st party AAA Exclusives are FACT making 1080p @60fps. Sonys 1st party AAA titles are not making 1080p @60fps..

** The UC4 E3 extended demo ....wow

Killer Instinct Season 1: 720p @ 60fps **Obviously a Rushed launch title

Season 2: 900p @ 60fps **who

Forza Horizon 2 1080p @ 30fps ** Noted

Dead Rising 3 720p @ 30fps **Rushed Launch Title**

Right. It's not like Digital Foundry stops making comparisons because "it isn't news anymore".

Some folks have both systems and this is useful information if they are bought to choose whether to buy a game for PS4 or XB1.

MasterCornholio3225d ago

@Alex

Agreed. Plus the source comes from the developers themselves and the know more about the game than anyone else.

As for the Eurogamer comparisons they add a lot more than just resolution. The comparisons also contains information such as differences in visual settigs and a comprehensive framerate analysis. So even if the developer confirms framerate and resolution Eurogamer will always find something to add.

The only people who don't like this are single platform owners that get the short end of the stick.

However as a PS4 only owner I appreciate these comparisons because they tell me if a game runs well on my system or not. That's the main reason why I'm skipping The Witcher 3 on the PS4 and getting Arkham Knight istead.

iistuii3224d ago

You do know it takes some site to put it through these tests to know because if you opened up the box & stuck the disc in you'd no idea what resolution it was on a console. You could tell if it had bad frame rate, you could tell if it had a lot of Alaising, but there's no way you'd know what resolution it was without someone testing it out.

MasterCornholio3224d ago

@iistui

Depends on the resolution. If I pop in any thing that's at least 720P or lower I can see that immediately on my 1080P screen. I'm so used to native 1080P games that anything that's 720P or lower looks terrible to me.

However when it comes to 900P while I can tell the difference between 1080P and 900P it doesn't bother me at all. I wouldn't have an issue playing Batman Arkham Knight in 900P but I would prefer 1080P for that additional level of clarity.

However your right about one thing is that we notice framerate issues more than anything. I'm just glad that the games that I buy for my PS4 have a minimal number of them so I'm not too bothered by them.

iistuii3224d ago

I'm not on about 720, I'm on about 900 which is upscaled to 1080. I'm sorry, I know everyone on here will argue, but I'd love to be able to test these experts on n4g's, there is no way with the naked eye if you were sent a new game without looking at any comparison site that you would know by just looking at the screen if it was 900 or 1080. If Batman came in the post & you stuck it in you'd not look at it & beable to know the resolution . A good example of this is remember the Killzone MP, it took digital foundry to point it out that the mp was lower than the sp & Sony had to apologize because nobody had the slightest idea, why, because it was upscaled & not noticeable.

"Blood Bowl 2 To Run@1080P/30 On PS4, 900P/30 On XB1"

As expected. Microsoft were stingy on the hardware, now they suffer the consequences.

Multiplats will always look better on the PS4, and most people will purchase the multiplat version that looks the best... and that's that.

PistolsAtDawn3225d ago (Edited 3225d ago )

"Multiplats will always look better on the PS4, and most people will purchase the multiplat version that looks the best... and that's that."

It never makes a REAL difference, people acting like there is are just doing so for their own personal views. I've done the tests myself, the issue is overblown. REAL issues would be like network performace and controller, etc. People choosing Res over network this gen are getting suckered by marketing in my opinion....esp with how many games need online this gen.

of course choose whichever appeals to you, but it just looks ridiculous at this point listing the Tech Specs of the consoles like it's a huge deal...then looking at the screenshots next to each other yeilds almost no difference.

buttclown3225d ago

Performance will always be greater than resolution in my opinion. If a game is stuttering and dropping frame rate or is in an unplayable state, who cares if it is 1080p.

If you have to choose only one gaming system, choose the one that has the exclusives you want to play because the multiplats, although they may be different resolution, will still run and look almost the same. And if resolution and graphics are your thing, build a good rig.

Godmars2903225d ago

More like they were overly focused on Kinect and media support over games.

Why does Forza 6 look so damn good then and runs at 60 fps?

Completely off the mark, games listed don't entice non-tactical gamers to enjoy them.

Games with good story and free movement outside of combat are the tactical games that entice players that don't usually like tactical games. Games like Wasteland 3, and Mutant Year Zero can really entice you into the tactical play games. As well hard tactical games like Gears Tactics which has a great story. Or non-stereotypical tactical games like The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.

I used to hate tactical games and have learned to love them because of the right game to play.

Teflon02945d ago

Valkyria chronicle is the only one on that list I somewhat like for being different and I hate Tactical games. Those aren't convincing anyone to play though. My biggest issue with them is that they're all just combat. If you want to get into them or play something with tactical elements that can get you into it. South Park Fractured but whole, Trails of Cold Steel/trails in the sky, or games that give elements, Then play the games more and more like them, then actual ones. I actually don't mind it for a combat system. But absolutely hate how the whole gameplay is exactly that most of the time. I'm not going to play a game that's basically all just combat. It's like turn based RPGs, they're great because the gameplay loop isn't just turn based combat. That's why Trails can use a system with elements and still be so great to people who hate that stuff
