Activision CEO discusses the potential for Call of Duty remasters

For many Call of Duty fans, the series reached its pinnacle with early titles like Modern Warfare, Black Ops, and Modern Warfare 2. According to widespread fan demand, one of the best ways to keep the series healthy would be to revisit those earlier titles with updated remasters on the new batch of consoles.

Turns out Activision’s CEO, Eric Hirshberg, agrees with them—it’s just a matter of finding the resources to get them made.

If a remaster of these are ever produced, (instead of a yearly rehash) The should focus on anti cheat software, the hacks ruined those games.

That is why I would buy a COD4 remaster, that game was fantastic to me, I love the maps and everything!

I have lost all interest in future iterations.

LexHazard793251d ago

Me too. All my favorite COD games are all the older ones. CoD2,Modern Warfare and Black Ops. These games remastered would look great on the new hardware not to mention that PS4 is now lead console hell yeah!

pompombrum3251d ago

This is precisely why I don't think we'll see a COD 4 remaster. If they remastered that, a fair few of us wouldn't care for their future rehashes and would stick to playing that, that's pretty much what has happened on PC.

SniperControl3251d ago

Would love to play COD 1 & 2 remastered SP missions again, still have the PC originals somewhere.

_-EDMIX-_3251d ago

100% agreed! Anything after COD4 was just trash to me, it just got worse and worse as it went on.

Just remaster COD4 with better textures, animations etc....then step AWAY FROM IT! lol

Keltech3251d ago

Hope they do. COD4:MW got me through the 2008 recession . God that was a horrible year for me

WAW and MW please.

Edit: Ok I'm being lazy.

COD: World at War and COD: Modern Warfare please.

Better?

UltraNova3251d ago

My reaction exactly! I mean aren't yearly releases and year long DLC map packs enough we now need them remastered?

I hope Ubi doesn't get jealous and starts releasing an AC remaster every six months...

Oh GOD no, indeed my friend.

yezz3251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

I think we actually need remasters because the current Call of Duties are rubbish. I used to play COD a lot but it's been quite a while now and I'm starting to miss it a bit. The current ones are so crappy that there is no way I'm going to buy those..

I would definitely throw some money at a remaster which includes MW, WaW, MW2 and BO for example.

SaveFerris3251d ago

The COD fans will lap this up for sure. Activision has the golden goose in form of the Call of Duty series.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Is 5 Years Too Late

The Nerd Stash: "Ubisoft is finally bringing players to Japan with Assassin's Creed Shadows, but this samurai/ninja epic might arrive too late."

More like 12 year...people have been going on about Japan or China since after Assassins Creed 3

Hell I even remember seeing people talk about it before Brotherhood or Revelations came out.

Ubisoft ignored people for over a decade and clearly decided to do it once they saw how successful games like Ghost of Tsushima become.

isarai3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Well, the funny thing is in the very first game once you unlock the eagle vision outside the Animus, people deciphered the writing on the wall and it gave a lot of hints to China and japan being the next or one of the next locations. And now they only do it when someone else already did it for them, and better imo.

Hell one of the directors literally addressed people's demands to.follow through on the hints the game had, and blatantly said they will never have an AC set in that location.

Me and my friends called it while playing GoT, like "i bet Ubisoft announces an AC game set in China or Japan now" and they announce TWO 🤣

Inverno1h ago

The creators had plans for this series which where put on hold indefinitely for the milking Ubi had planned. Pretty sure they were gonna take this to Japan after 2, but then focused on Ezio. Which is why the modern day stuff fell apart too.

CrimsonWing692h ago

Better late than never. I haven’t been into an Ass Creed game since Black Flag and I only liked the non-Ass Creed parts of that game. This one will be the first I’ve played since Unity, which killed any interest I had with the series,

Friendlygamer1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Nah, tsushima is all countryside and beach and sekiro and nioh are fantasy, a more urban feudal japan setting is fresh. Besides we get a new European medieval game every 10 minutes, why can't multiple companies do Japan ? I would love onimusha, tenchu and way of the samurai to come back.

I hate the idea of a gaming company 'owning' a setting, I want more high budget cowboy games besides red dead !!!!

chicken_in_the_corn1h ago

Why release it at a time when the setting is so common? Releasing it now lets it stand out more.

Too late, too woke and too anti-consumer with it's drm.
