It's a Shame That The New DOOM Won't Look as Nice As The E3 Gameplay Trailer

FreakOrama writes: "DOOM was announced some time ago, a teaser came out a little bit later and now we got the full blast with a new gameplay trailer, gameplay videos showcasing different levels, guns, fun executions and bosses alongside multiplayer game modes and content creation tools.

The push they’re giving the game is an awesome one. A lot of content, mod tools, gore, guns and a crazy world, plus it looks great too in terms of visuals, but it’s a shame that it won’t look at good, or even play as fun as what we’ve seen in those trailer and videos."

Game looks great what you on about, plus it comes out 2016

Nitrowolf23260d ago (Edited 3260d ago )

an article like this is actually kind of good in my opinion people should lower their expectations and if the game comes out and it surpasses them great. I mean it was all pre recorded and I don't really expect the final bill to have that many particles even in the PC version, there has been several titles this gen alone that have already proved that you shouldn't expect what you see at first.

All i want from this Doom is

60FPS
Too Much Blood 5/10 ign
And sick ways to kill those creatures.

DivoJones3260d ago

Those textures look a little too smooth/shiny and there's no UI, so it definitely seems to be a pre-rendered video in this post. The videos I saw yesterday seems to have low frame-rate as well. In order to get to 60fps, especially if that's a target for consoles as well, there's going to be some downgrades. Sounds like a PC platform buy if it's supporting mods and if you want superior graphics.

Gazondaily3260d ago

The game actually looks exactly liek the trailer. Just throw in some different locales and different lighting and the author automatically thinks insta-downgrade??

Ghoul3260d ago

agreed.

plus i think it looks badass (mainly the style)
but nothing i mean really nothing got me worried not beeing achieveable today (or spring16)

troll article

Because the trailers they show off at E3 very often do not represent the build quality of the final product.
Look at Watch Dogs for example, I believe The Order: 1886 also took a kick square in the graphics.
It's just a case of people are sick of being lied to for the sake of creating hype.
No doubt the game will be fun and look nice, but it's very unlikely that it will look as good as the E3 trailers.

kraenk123260d ago

@donwel The Order looked even better than the early trailers.

"but it’s a shame that it won’t look at good, or even play as fun as what we’ve seen in those trailer and videos."

The article itself seems like nonsense to me. Especially where he says the game won't look as great or 'play as fun'.

Not only is the latter remark a grammatical mishap, I think it's impossible to infer how enjoyable the game will be to play at this stage. Heck, it's not even clear how enjoyable the demo was to play. Personally, I got the impression that 'this will be more fun if I was playing it' while I was watching the show, especially because the demo made a lot of decisions I wouldn't have made. The freedom to use the weapons I prefer more frequently would inherently make the game more enjoyable to play, than it was to view.

Additionally, the author cites examples of games that featured graphical downgrades. People always cite Killzone 2 (this author just say's 'Killzone') and it's embarassing, because Killzone 2 actually made a considerable graphical boost from its initial E3 unveiling. Bioshock looked identical to its initial gameplay unveiling, unless they're counting the initial CGI teaser, which I think is really clutching at straws, as anyone viewing a clearly CGI presentation should be aware the released title won't quite live up to the graphical presentation of pre-rendered CGI.

Meanwhile, the only other games on his list that genuinely turned out to be somewhat unenjoyable were Watchdogs and Aliens Colonial Marines. However, Colonial Marines was not unenjoyable because of undelivered graphical fidelity, but rather fundamentally bad design and broken game mechanics. Meanwhile, the Witcher 3 is cited, but I don't believe many were disappointed with that title. While there are some graphical differences between the first unveiling and the actual game, especially on consoles, I think it more than lived up to expectations.

While it's always good to have realistic expectations. It's also a good idea to be informed about the content you're writing about, and present a strong argument when presenting your opinion. This article does neither of those well. Although it's possible Doom may not look quite as good as it did in the showcase, we have nothing to suggest that may be the case right now, and the game did not present unbelievable graphical fidelity, so we have reason to believe it may look just as good as presented. Additionally the suggestion that the game 'won't play as fun' is baseless speculation.

T2X3260d ago

I completely agree. Actually, I'll be willing to bet it will look pretty much like the demo. Why wouldn't it. Has the author of this looked at some games which are out now? BTW, the Witcher looks beautiful. Also, their games nad not meant to be life altering experiences. LOL!

christian hour3260d ago

He cites watchdogs and colonial marines as examples in his text. *facepalm* Totally different situations and company ideologies altogether.

This is ID we're talking about here. Doom isn't actually all that technically impressive if you pay close attention to the models and textures and rendering techniques, it won't take that much of a hit in terms of graphical fidelity come launch.

I understand where this guy is coming from, but this clearly isn't one of those cases.

He could write this exact same article for every game to come out ever. Baiting for hits.

joab7773260d ago

It will look this good on PC, and close on consoles. We know the drill. It's fine though. Looks like a ton of fun.

But will I love it as much as I did when I was younger. I'm not sure.

hmmm... games are more than just graphics... just like people are more than just looks.

Perjoss3260d ago

Exactly. Have a look at this:

http://store.steampowered.c...

Overwhelmingly positive reviews from users from almost 530 different people. And it has ascii graphics.

iTechHeads3260d ago

DOOM looked incredible dude. Stop with the downgrade whining.

Blues Cowboy3260d ago

Oh come on, this "article" is barely longer than the text description.

curtis923260d ago

the gameplay is what excites me. The graphics look fantastic and as long as they're in that ballpark I'll be good.
