BidnessEtc: 90s Sega Genesis classic, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is long overdue for an HD remake
Sonic is back from the past and didn’t need a Delorian to do it in this revival of the second Sonic platformer. If speed, industrial quantities of gold rings, egg-shaped supervillains and more speed or your thing then Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the title for you.
This is the game that came with my Genesis II back in the day. I played it almost as much as 3. Still holds up well against 2D Sonic games that came after it.
After this week's horrifying Sonic trailer, let's look back on some brighter times.
I really love Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic Spinball on Genesis and Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood on DS.
Best = Sonic Adventure 2.
Games that just miss the top spot = Heroes, SA1, Generations, Colours, Mania, Sonic 2
Other Very Good Games = Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Mean Bean Machine.
Decent, but not great = Sonic 4 pt 1&2, 3D Blast, Sonic 1, Shadow, Black Knight, Secret Rings, Advance 1,2,3.
Underrated = Shuffle, Chronicles, Lost World
Missed opportunity = Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed (Warehog, why?) Sonic Forces
Bad = Fighters and Boom games.
Racers = Not really a racing game fan, the All-Stars racing games can be fun though.
As promised, the demo for Sonic 2 HD, a fan remake of the classic SEGA Mega Drive platformer, has been released to the public. This demo features both Sonic and Tales, and lets you speed through the world together as a team with a friend, or fly solo through West Side Island.
How long will it take before SEGA pulls the plug on that game though? Just like they did with the SOR3 Remake...
SEGA supports fan games. I guess they realize that allowing fans to work on their own projects and giving them their blessing can only be good for the brand as a whole.
He should have not released a demo. Instead just announce it when it's 100% done, then provide all links for the torrent.
