Wii U Dev Not Interested in New 3DS: It Has Advantages but No Audience

New 3DS has a bigger audience than Vita. Heck soon it'll have a bigger audience than Wii U

XSpike3272d ago

Depends on the game, a good lot of games on the Vita sell a lot better then the PS3 or PC versions or even both combined.

Wii U and Vita are just as dead as each other, both great devices, both sold poorly and bout the same amount, both have awesome games on it & both need better support but not happening with such poor sales.

* If there is no audience then create one.

There is an audience though and it's growing by the month.

The New 3DSXL will keep selling, especially after E3 & Christmas.

By the time his new game was made the audience he wants would be there.

I think it's more so a fact of it's easier to look at the install base for the normal 3DS and just make it compatible to that for more potential sales.

i.. dont.. really.. understand.. where Vita.. came into view in this article...

MegaRay3272d ago

Do you have a source proofing that new 3ds sold more than Vita?

...yeah, didn't think so.

PhoenixUp3271d ago

New 3DS doesn't have to sell more than Vita to have a bigger audience. Just by virtue of being part of the DS family grants it a bigger audience

Is thete any genuine reason for New 3DS to exist?

TripC503272d ago

You think Nintendo would show something at E3 to make the new 3DS worthwhile. I'm thinking a unique way of connecting with the Wii U. Off screen play maybe? Also it has the built in NFC reader so that might come into play if they release a Pokemon game where you can scan cards or something. Like how they are doing that interior design/animal crossing game.

Rebel_Scum3272d ago

Yep, an analog stick/nub on the right hand side that works really well and improved 3D capability. Before the 3D would make the screen all fuzzy if you looked at the screen from an angle.

Also the system is a little bit faster.

Yeah, think of it like a slim version of a home console. They have bigger hard drives and various improvements.

3DS has a better screen, built in NFC reader, second slider pad, and a slightly more powerful interior...Decreasing load times and allowing for a couple exclusive games.

From a business side, the more consoles you sell the less people there are to sell to. So the idea is to release something that some of the people who already own the console will consider upgrading to, increasing the amount of potential customers. That's why you see consoles get slim versions, updated models, special editions, and models with larger hard drives.

Is there any genuine reason to say the 3DS can't have a remodel when the Gameboy, GBA, DS, PSP, Vita, PS3, and Xbox all had at least one more (and sometimes as many as 3 more?)

It's a newer and better version of a top-selling system. It doesn't need a zillion reasons to exist. Personally I'm satisfied with just the head-tracking and analog nub for games like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil Revelations. I would have upgraded to an XL system anyway (second hand most likely) but thanks to the new system I waited and bought one brand new.

Digging games for 3DS and Vita but not new3DS and WiiU

xwilldemise3272d ago

As a new 3DS XL owner I don't see it getting much games that will only be playable on that device rather than the regular 3DS. Even though the device could handle more I don't see debs shunning away all the possible sales if they made it work with the regular 3DS. This shows seeing as Xenoblade is still the only game that is compatible with the new device & not the old one. I honestly don't expect to see a lot of these games. Nintendo's "upgrades" are all very minor. That being said, I love my new 3DS XL, much like the regular 3DS it has a great library plus I copped the gold Majoras Mask Edition which makes it all the better.
