For PlayStation newcomers, the Uncharted collection will be an essential purchase

"If you owned a PlayStation 3, there’s a high chance you’ve already played at least one Uncharted game over the years. If you have, and if you enjoyed it, this article isn’t for you. Go on scamp, run along outside and go for a bike ride or something. I’m here to talk to everyone else. Your tea will be ready around 7. Stay away from the brook in Mulberry forest. That’s where Karen was found dead."

I have played all three and its still an essential purchase!

LordMaim3254d ago

I've played all three multiple times on the PS3, the most recently being earlier this year. Having the upgraded version will just make the experience that much better.

LonDonE3253d ago (Edited 3253d ago )

I own all 3 on PS3 and bought all 3 launch day, i just wish loyal fans like me were given some kind of discount if we purchase the collection on PS4.
It annoyed me that the last of us on PS4 also didn't have a discount for people who own the PS3 version.

Either way i think this is a great collection but not including the awesome multi player is a massive misstep.
And the reason they gave was weak as hell!
Regardless i think any gamer who jumped over to PS4 after being a xbox 360 gamer last gen should defo buy this collection.

LordMaim3253d ago

@LonDonE: Effectively you're getting a 66% discount, since you're getting all three for one price. And you get the multiplayer from Uncharted 4, which is even better.

Genuine-User3254d ago

I'm in the same boat. Uncharted is my favourite franchise alongside Metal Gear Solid.

showtimefolks3254d ago

i want to rerplay them in 1080P/60 FPS. also ND said there will be other improvements. i hope they fix the sensitive aim in uncharted 1

a lot of xbox gamers who missed these games last gen are in for a treat.

mcstorm3254d ago

I have to wonder is this why UC4 was put back so they could do a re-mastered version of 1 to 3?
I cant believe how many re masters we have had this gen. I don't think we should be getting so many I can understand a few of them like Windwaker or TMCC but others like TR, GoW, GOW, ect I don't see the point of too much. Its each to there own though just wish we would see more new IP's than re-masters.

Genuine-User3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

What makes Windwaker or TMCC more deserving of a remaster than The Uncharted Collection, GOW and GeOW?

I don't think UC4 was delayed because of the remastered collection. Corporate decisions are not made on a whim.

OB1Biker3253d ago (Edited 3253d ago )

It's a different studio so that's nothing to do with uncharted 4 delay and actually I don't see any reason why some would complain except for wanting more from it like GA or mp

mcstorm3253d ago

@Genuine-User Windwaker was released in 2003 so that was 11 years before the HD version was made and TMCC was done because of Halo 2 being 10 years old but they also add all the Halo games too it including MP.

For me games like UC, GOW 3, GoW, TR are all less than 10 years old and some under 12 before they had a re-master. If people want to buy them that's fine by me but we have seen a lack of new IP's so far this gen and I just don't want it to be a gen of re-mastered games.

@OB1Biker As I said before I just want to see more new IP's and Games rather than re-masters. I was not a big player of the UC mp side so it would not bother me not having it in but I will also not buy the game just because it was not long ago I played them all. As I said each to there own. I got WindWaker as I missed it on the gamecube but again the remaster was 10 years after the game came out. As I said each to there own. Great for people who want it its just not for me.

miyamoto3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

The article said NEWCOMERS....
but look at the commenters and thwir comments below and how they bitch about replayability...
the collection is made for NEWCOMER gamer not the old ones. Sheesh!

oh btw

good luck Rise of the Tomb Raider on October

I'll get it when the price drops. No multiplayer - no replayability for me. Not paying $60

kraenk123254d ago

you're looking at 30-40 hours of amazing singleplayer games...some people.

spacedelete3254d ago

don't care. without multiplayer it has zero replay value espesially as i have played all 3 games before so i would just be going through the motions. i spent hundreds of hours on Uncharted mp. it was more fun than mp games like COD and BF. so i'll just wait until they put this game free on PS Plus in 2 years.

Tankbusta403254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

The 3rd game was like 7 hours alone...where are these 30 hours coming from? Uncharted was great but it was never a long series

OrangePowerz3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

@Tank

You must be rushing through the games. 2 and 3 are both at least 12 hours when playing at a normal speed so that's already at least 24 hours and while the first game is shorter it's still over 6 hours so that's 30+ hours.

As for MP. Was it even confirmed yet that there won't be MP? All I can find is the Sony statement tgat says people can replay the campaign in 1080p @ 60fps. I didn't see anything where they clearly stated that MP won't be in it.

KumquatGOATBEEF3254d ago

Most of us have already beaten all games several times over. $60 for updated graphics without all the functionality they originally had is a little steep when I still have all copies sitting on my shelf next to my PS3. Kudos for ND for doing this for fans, but even The Last of Us Remastered had multiplayer. The least they could've done is at least had U3's multiplayer ported to the next generation.

_-EDMIX-_3253d ago

@KumquatGOATBEEF-"Most of us have already beaten all games several times over"

...I see, when did any Uncharted game sell 80 million? I mean...."most of us" should have bought it if we um..."already beaten" the games on PS3. You sure "most of us" got those games bud? Sure it was like....less?

Look at the life time units of PS3, look at the sales of games. No game was played by um. "Most" of an install base. It exist because clearly not everyone played the whole series.

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 3253d ago
Darkwatchman3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

No replay ability? I beat the first game 7 times. I beat the second game 20 times. I beat the third game 8 times. They were so good I wanted to replay them again and again. You forget replayability isn't just the amount of content and whether or not multiplayer is included. It's also whether the games are good enough to warrant multiple playthroughs and the uncharted trilogy certainly is.

After all, it's only in the name REPLAYability. REPLAY the games

Tankbusta403254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

Just because you're anal and wish to replay games without multiple endings doesn't mean the average gamer does...there is really no reason to play them over and over because the story does not change

Edit what's wrong with my words ? Most people don't play linear games 20 times over...uncharted is good fun but the single player doesn't change of you play it one time or 20...it's a linear experience

DarkOcelet3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

@Tankbusta40

Please mate, be respectful. No need for such words here.

What a way to lose your bubbles.

Believe it or not but i replayed RE4 over 300 times. Linear or not, its his time, he gets to say what to do with it.

And it doesn't need to change when the content available is awesome and you would want to replay over and over.

LordMaim3254d ago

@Tankbusta40: So I guess you just read a book then throw it away, right? Because the story never changes, why bother? You've never seen a movie more than once? Watched a television show over again? After finishing a single player game you just snap it in half?

Good stories don't need to be variable to be enjoyable.

Bathyj3254d ago

Being fun isn't a reason?

I watch The godfather, Diehard and Deadwood at least once a year. Their stories never change either.

Mikefizzled3254d ago

@DarkOcelet He is actually using the word 'anal' correctly here.

Darkwatchman3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

@Tankbusta

Don't people watch movies they really like multiple times? I know I do. It's the same concept. If a game is GOOD ENOUGH, you will WANT to play it multiple times just like if a movie is good enough, you will want to watch it more than once and if a book is good nought, you will want to read it more than once. If you people seriously can't play a game at least a second time just because the story doesn't change, then I'm glad I don't get bored as easily as some of you.

Something like a Mass Effect I played 6 times because of the branching narratives and the different choices I could make, but something like Uncharted 2 I played 20 times because it was just plain fun to play more than once. No other reason.

Gazondaily3254d ago

Beating Uncharted 2 20 times, the first game 7 times and the third game 8 times is not excessive??

http://replygif.net/i/1403....

Okay then!

Genuine-User3254d ago

@Septic

It is excessive but he had fun doing so. That's what matters more so than anything else.

Perjoss3254d ago

20 times? what's wrong with you?

beerzombie3254d ago

ya some games to me are like my favorite movies I just like to play them
over again.

It comes with the Multiplayer beta of Uncharted 4. Having been in some of Uncharted's previous MP betas, let me tell you that they deliver a pretty complete experience in the beta, and as an added benefit it will be using the Uncharted 4 engine. I can't wait to get my hands on that.

beerzombie3254d ago

Ms did this for crackdown one it sold a lot of games.

poor_cus_of_games3254d ago

Yeah I'm really enjoying the witcher 3 because it has multiplayer. Oh wait.

MUST BUY! For the ones who say that it doesn't have multiplayer... it has UNCHARTED 4 MULTI BETA FFS!

DillyDilly3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

That Beta does not really count since a Beta lasts for what a week at least ?

marlinfan103254d ago

What happens when the beta ends?

elazz3254d ago

What happens is is that once the beta ends, you go to the store and pre-order Uncharted 4. It happens automatically

strickers3254d ago (Edited 3254d ago )

I've been taking to my son about playing these and they've announced this. What better way for him to have a go at them?
As for 7 hours UC3. You must be a gaming ninja..... Or another person who has no idea how to savour an experience.

johndoe112113254d ago

I don't even think it's possible to finish that game in 7 hours. I could be wrong. Regardless I really wouldn't take advice about gaming from a guy who boasts about finishing uncharted in 7 hours. People like him are ruining gaming.

PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher

With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?

thorstein11d ago

No, and they already solved any need with the overlay that's coming.

Vits11d ago

Unless they are trying to kill their recently created PC business, I would advise against opening a dedicated PC store. It's an extremely hard endeavor, and people, in general, are very comfortable with Steam. Even Epic, with their billions of dollars invested, is still struggling to find a foothold, and they have Fortnite.

just_looken10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Money is one thing security is another but again millions have 0 knowledge past 2020.

Epic store for years struggled with a shopping cart/account theft/credit card theft

Rockstar launcher/store to this day over 5 years later still has horrific user interface security flaws lost account's and stolen CC

Then you got that activision need phone number oh we lost it launcher

The crown jewel is the ea launcher/store ea app 3 yrs old still has hundreds of threads were people lost games/accounts/game access or just straight up crashes.

Edit" Oh ubi launcher were you buy a game that may or may not be there again or work and the launcher 5yrs old still has no 4K support if you launch it on a 4k screen there is a high chance it will just crash.

ocelot0710d ago

Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming.

It's just a known fact. The PC gaming community prefer Steam and Steam alone. They don't like different launchers. I personally don't mind them. But majority just stick with steam. Hence why EA and Ubisoft went back to on releasing on steam and why Microsoft release games on steam as people hated buying from the windows store.

The only other launchers that I imagine are doing ok is GOG due to being drm free and epic games due to the free games every week. Sony shouldn't release any sort of pc launcher n

Nitrowolf210d ago (Edited 10d ago )

It literally says in the OP that PC gamers don't like multiple launchers lol. It even mentions Steam being the go to for gamers

Tacoboto10d ago

Title: "PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher"

N4G: "Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming"

When you don't even read the headline...

ocelot0710d ago

I read it and had a brain fart. As read the title then this "With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?"

So I hold my hands up on that mistake. Rest of my comment still stands.

Giblet_Head10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Steam and GOG are highly preferred because of the rich feature set. Ubisoft, Rockstar, EA, Epic etc have all set a precedent over the years for customers to instinctively expect individual publisher launchers to be so extremely half-assed that the majority simply don't want to bother dealing with what is almost an inevitable disappointment by comparison to Steam or GOG. Those publishers and their inaction or general disinterest to improve have effectively ruined any future adoption to be taken seriously.

Einhander197210d ago (Edited 10d ago )

This is just another ridiculous double standard article.

It's like how Microsoft can spend 20 years of making nothing but gaas and live service style games to sell microtransactions, dlc and subscriptions and get praise for doing it, but if Sony wants to make a single game like that every website under the sun is writing articles saying how Sony is anti-consumer or whatever.

derek10d ago

Yep, huge double standard look at the tortured reaction to the ps5pro, websites hyperventilating like Sony is forcing people to buy it.

just_looken10d ago

Wait my xbox from 2004 has avengers gaas on it? wow your so smart

m$ Gaas started with the other companies like sony

Gamepass yes they are deep into that but its still a huge money saver sense you do not own your games then get a service like that.

Now there pc xbox launcher that is trash for years now

Is Driver (PS1) Still Worth Playing in 2024?

The driving holds up, most of everything else does not.

PrimeVinister18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

@Shane Kim

Well, I mean the driving physics hold up. The draw distance, police AI, visuals in general etc do not

Cacabunga18d ago

One of my all time favorites on PS1. I spent a summer vacation playing this was so good

isarai18d ago

Sadly youd be hard pressed to find any driving game with better physics these days. But the draw distance really kills it for me

PrimeVinister18d ago

The physics hold up ridiculously well. And the draw distance is a real hurdle at first.

__y2jb18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Nonsense. The physics in any modern game or any 360 game is light years beyond Driver.

Good news is that Sony released a final update to Gran Turismo Sport to allow it to function offline. Expecting the same for GT7 at some point in the future.

PrimeVinister20d ago

That is great news, I really liked Sport even if many others did not :-/

Chocoburger20d ago

I'm not big into sim racing, but I got sucked into the hype for this one from magazines back then. I just played arcade mode and that was enough for me to feel like I got my money's worth.

Yeah, it's definitely worth playing today. GT 2 has a few interesting fan made graphical mods when played on an emulator as well.

PrimeVinister20d ago

The arcade mode is underrated, it's a great alternative mode and you can even unlock GT HiFi with it.

Fonsecap20d ago

Cars back then had much more personality then those we see today. Modern cars all about the led lights and the tablet size screens and they all seem alike, back then they could be simpler in design but had tons more personality.

PrimeVinister20d ago

That is something a few people have pointed out - that cars all look the same now. I have to agree that a lot of new vehicles lack personality.

fsfsxii20d ago

You guys are so anti-fun its depressing, like who tf cares about personality of objects like wtf? Just learn to enjoy stuff as is.

PrimeVinister20d ago

It's hardly anti-fun to remark that some objects look nicer than others.

And everyone has their favourite era of cars, I sincerely doubt many will pick the 2020s a few decades from now.

Fonsecap20d ago

Dude, like wft cares about personality of objects? What about art? Paintings are objects and they're considered good or bad if they show or lack personality so I ask, wtf are you talking about? Cars are also considered pieces of art, vintage cars, classic cars, classic bikes and so on. Artists are appreciated by the objects they craft, blacksmiths, painters, engineers, designers, so wtf cares about personality of objects indeed... ( Sorry for my English, it's not my native language)

MrBaskerville19d ago

Talking about cars is fun if you are a car enthusiast. Just saying.

ApocalypseShadow20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

That Corvette Stingray to this day is one of the most ferocious whips ever driven. Overpowered against other cars yes. But to drive it and be that close to losing control, but being in command around those curves, just can't be duplicated.

HiFi mode is also something I miss. There should be a mode in today's GT where it's Mano o Mano and the detail and resolution jump full throttle. In today's games, Max Ray Tracing and lighting and textures to make it look even more real..

PrimeVinister20d ago

A modern HiFi mode would be really cool! It would be really interesting to see how real they could go by stripping it all way back.

And Stingray is a solid choice 👌

TiredGamer20d ago

HiFi mode in GT1 was only a stripped down 60 fps mode for one track. Should have been called "Performance Mode" or "High Frame Rate" mode.

PrimeVinister20d ago

@TiredGamer it was only three tracks, but it was still cool

Petebloodyonion20d ago

Not according to Former Playstation president Jim Ryan for he told Time that he doesn't see why anyone would play old games given the advancements in fidelity achieved today.

PrimeVinister20d ago
