This game looks sick! Classic Castlevania was great and this looks like it's shaping up to be right in the same class.

DryBoneKoopa853274d ago

I'm pretty stoked to have a Wii U version if it gets funded. I already have every Castlevania game to come out on the Virtual Console.

wonderfulmonkeyman3274d ago

Ditto. I'm still hoping that we will see the rest of the DS Castlevania lineup hit the Wii U at some point soon.

mikeslemonade3273d ago

I don't want there to be a WiiU version.

Neonridr3273d ago

@mikeslemonade - why is that buddy? Then you can't gloat that the Wii U doesn't have another specific title?

I can never understand people's logic sometimes..

you most of all.

genuine question.

if their idea is so good and they have so much confidence, why dont they get the money from the bank?

why do they keep begging gamers for the money?

you know what i think? they have this charity style business model because it means they dont have to pay a bank back. you DONATE all your money to them, and then they get to make the game, essentially for free. and then reap all the financial rewards.

if they borrowed the money from the bank, they would be in debt to the bank.

with this kickstarter (ie begging/charity) model, there is no risk involved.

correct me if im wrong.

also, all these kickstarter/beggars must see nintendo fans as the most desperate and gullible, since it seems the majority of these types of projects are pitched for the wiiu. but the stupidity of gamers is such that they dont learn from history- how many of these games actually end up on the wiiu? they just take your money, and then CANCEL the wiiu version in favour of ps4/X1 editions. which was clearly their ambition in the first place. the big markets! why would you beg people for money to produce your game on a console with a limited user base?

time to wake up and smell the coffee people, you are being had.

TuxedoMoon3273d ago

Probably? I don't really know of the financial stuff, but certain kickstarts have succeeded before, Shovel Knight being the most famous so far. Bloodstained is being made with reputation on the line too. If Igavania here fails (he runs with the money for example), he loses a lot of respect and probably won't be able to land a legit job in the Japanese gaming business again. Future kickstarts might fail instantly because of past shady business actions (probably).

The easy answer would be: Don't tell people how to spend their money! But instead of a shut down answer like that, just remember what kinda world we live in:

There are feminist con artists who still get funded like crazy despite the evidence out there in the public of them being frauds.

There are people who have no problem paying scalpers $40+ for a small plastic Nintendo figure.

Gamers these days have gotten used to paying for Disc locked content, crappy DLC (Costume colors, easier ways to level up), and paywalls.

People spend money on ridiculous things. We have medicine for broken male rods, but still can't find cures for certain diseases...It's crazy!

Neonridr3273d ago

If I am not mistaken, the kickstarter only pays for a portion of this game. I believe they have outside funding elsewhere and this campaign was to prove there is interest.

no way Koji Igarashi would be that stupid and promise a version and not deliver, his reputation would be tarnished. He even hired Armature Studios to help oversee the Wii U port of the game (made up from former Metroid Prime developers).

brewin3273d ago (Edited 3273d ago )

Those who "donate" to Kickstarter projects are essentially just pre ordering the project. Ur logic is twisted. This isnt some charity thing like you make it out to be. This is people funding projects that companies wouldn't otherwise fund. It gives the people a vote on what gets made. Its win-win. Gamers win because we dont get force fed what publishers think we want and devs win because they get to make the games they want without the politics of the publisher model. If you think kickstarter is bad then go play your yearly update to franchise xx and stfu. In the meantime, educate yourself on something before you bash it.

Without this model games would he a monopoly with a few companies buying up all the dev houses (i.e. EA, Ubi, Activision). Now with the successes of these kickstarter projects, publishers are becoming aware that devs have an alternative and therefore can no longer stifle a developer's creativity. They could just leave and start a kickstarter to fund their true vision. Anyone who thinks this isnt a good thing doesnt care about games or the gaming community.

Serious response.

Amortization. Look it up. If you knew how loans worked, you wouldn't even ask the question.

No it looks more like SOTN type games not classic CV. Classic CV is 1-4. CV4 still the best.

pcz3273d ago (Edited 3273d ago )

@ tuxedmoon

ive said it before but i think the kickstarter signals a troubling time for gaming. as was stated in another reply, unless you are one of the massive developing/publishing giants like EA, Ubisoft etc you stand little chance. and even former giants such as konami seem to be drasticlly scaling back their business.

people support these kickstarters because they think they are getting a good deal in the end, but really i think its desperate times when devs are relying on the end user to fund the product... i mean, usually the end user buys the finished product, not pay for its production. to me, that says gaming is in peril.

i know there are established musicians/artists who use crowd funding to generate money so they can pay for studio time, production and distribution costs of a record.. whereas in the past they would go through a record company. it suggests they have no other option but to rely on fans since they no longer have that financial support of the label. its desperation. not much different to a person sitting on a floor with a hat in their hand asking for money. harsh, but essentially the truth.

the same is happening with gaming now. its a sad sight.

i remember back in the ps2 days the journalists used to talk about game development becoming so expensive that many studios wouldnt survive. i mean, not every dev can produce a game on the scale of GTA V. i think we are seeing the effects of this now, with production teams driven to essentially begging gamers for money.

its ironic that you have cutting edge tech such as ps4/x1, and the devs cant even afford to make games for them.. not to any scale fitting to their power. and even the big devs are saving themselves money by not even bothering to make new games and instead resell old games but in a higher resolution. lol next gen.. what a joke. we have technology that nobody can afford to program games for. sad times

About time, should have been included from the start.

wonderfulmonkeyman3274d ago (Edited 3274d ago )

While I agree with wanting it from the start, at the same time, putting it in a later tier allowed them to pay ARMATURE to do the Wii U version.

They were involved with the Metroid Prime series, so you know you can trust them to know how to use Nintendo hardware.
If that's not enough, their portfolio also includes the Metal Gear Solid Collection for PS Vita, Injustice for PS Vita, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for PS4/XB1.

So yeah, these guys know their stuff, and having them on board is well worth waiting till the kickstarter reaches a tier where they can be guaranteed a payment.
I just hope we reach that tier.

Neonridr3273d ago

so psyched to have Armature on board. They know what they are doing.

I will be interested to see what features they may be able to implement with the Wii U version as well.

WizzroSupreme3274d ago

That's very cool to hear. The Wii U definitely deserves some more Castlevania-style love.

Maybay3273d ago

Great news.

Wii U isn't the success it needs to be, though its creating niche fanbase of devotees, and the next step is to support quality 3rd party titles.
