Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton set to appear in Ubi's Imagine adverts

DsrkZero: Ubisoft has revealed they have snapped up Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton to promote their Imagine series of games. If you not heard of either celeb, then you must never watch TV at all ever. Memorable games in the series are Imagine Girl Band, Imagine Teacher and Imagine Movie Star, and the always amusing Imagine Babies.

Law Against “Sexist” Video Games Rejected in France; Proponent Blasts Quantic Dream’s Kara and More

A few days ago, DualShockers reported about the attempt to pass a law amendment at the French Assemblée Nationale to penalize the production of video games considered “sexist,” and showcasing a “degrading representation against women.”

During the discussion at the French parliament, proponents blasted Quantic Dreams' Kara, Dishonored, Assassin's Creed Unity and the Imagine series of games, but was shut down with Life is Strange and Beyond: Two Souls brought as examples.

She said all that while starting at a picture of Nathan Drake shirtless.

Abriael3017d ago (Edited 3017d ago )

Oh lol. But honestly, when I watched the video, I was like "is this lady for real?"

She basically drank one-sided blogs and articles like koolaid without doing a single second of research.

SaveMeJebus3017d ago

I know, it's sad. Most of "those kind" of politicians have probably never even seen or played a video game.

Crimzon3017d ago

Shocked to see Dishonored in the list of games that were blasted. Did the idiot complaining about the game even look at how any of the female characters in the game are portrayed, or just assume that because some of the female characters were sex workers that the entire game was sexist?

Utterly pathetic, and I'm glad to see that they failed miserably and the case was rejected. I've yet to see any of these social justice warriors take the time to do even the slightest bit of research into the things they're trying to take control over.

feels like the 90's all over again. instead radical conservatives we now have radical libs.
And the pendulum continues to swing

@Dee_91

Instead?! You meant to say additionally,

rainslacker3017d ago

I wonder how much more effective these legislative bodies would be if they were allowed to cast out their reactionary extremeist who take on these issues on moral ground instead of approaching them with facts and sound reasoning. The debate after the introduction can bring up moral issues, but IMO, the actual proposal should present nothing but verifiable facts, which are then combed over by committee, and if some legislator wastes everyone's time, they should get a flogging or something.

I'm sure it would clear up a lot of the wasted time, and maybe allow legislators to get some work done in the time between their campaigning which seems to take precedent over serving the people who elected them.

Concertoine3017d ago

@Kraenk

Yeah, but you just dont see good ol' radical con's like Jack Thompson going after games these days. Honestly makes me miss him, he's way more tolerable than people like Sarkeesian.

annoyedgamer3017d ago (Edited 3017d ago )

"cultural Marxism" Explains this well.

And I hate to point this out...but the radical conservatives mostly whined, they never truly got this close to actually passing laws censoring freedoms like the leftists are now. They already can get men fired from their jobs for disagreeing with feminists. See below.

Talk shit about games, call them sexist, rake in some money

Good. We can't just pass laws without considering undesired effects that could make them easy to abuse by people who are not of sound mind.

If sjws were for true equality they would lobby for false rape accusers to face criminal charges. But they don't. People like that don't have an opinion worth considering.

These individuals should not speak for France, which has historically been a major proponent of freedom in all its forms.

Dario_DC3017d ago

You need to realize that France has CHANGED! This country nowadays represents the biggest Hypocrites I've ever seen! All they spew out is "politically correct" crap! Not only the French are "full of it" but they're the biggest racists, bigots and xenophobes you'll ever find in your life! I say this from experience. I've lived in Portugal, UK, Spain, Switzerland and I'm currently living France (over 3.5 years now) and the French(specially in the South) are just horrible people that have a great distaste towards everything and everyone that doesn't fit in their "little perfect world". You just need to look for any forum of expats living in France to prove I'm not just making stuff up.

OT: This is some real bullcrap and needs to stop! I'm so tired of social justice warriors...

WeAreLegion3017d ago

That really sucks. :( I'm an American, but I've always loved France.

rainslacker3017d ago

I actually feel a lot of the civilized world...at least those considered more major countries like France, Britain, US, etc, are showing signs of becoming more racists, more rampant bigotry, and are becoming more xenophobic as time goes on.

Every time something happens, or some perceived slight happens to someone, no matter how mundane, it's just another reason for the intolerant to bring out their narrow minded views to the forefront and make the outside world seem that everyone from those places is equally narrow minded...despite most feeling that these people are just a**holes who are full of themselves.

kenwonobi3017d ago

It shock me it's there of all places. I know this place isn't filled with closed minded people like that. France has always been a place where artistic expression has been at the forefront.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart3017d ago (Edited 3017d ago )

Are you kidding me?. I can't believe someone actually tried to do this. The scary thing is is that it's not impossible in the age which we're living in for them to get away with this kind of thing. Ever since that artist got put in jail for disagreeing with a feminist on Twitter and then banned from ever using the internet for the rest of his life I get nervous when laws try to get passed and other nonsense regarding the SJW and feminist political agenda. These people are cancerous tumours that are metastasizing throughout the West.

exkalibur973017d ago

well the news came out he was cleared of all charges, arguments like this do well on the internet but bring it to court where people argue for a living and its a slam dunk mis trial.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart3017d ago

The fact that it was a mistrial is completely irreverent. A man got arrested and got fired from his job for disagreeing with a feminist on Twitter dude. It's fuc**ng ridiculous and shouldn't be tolerated for a single moment.

vickers5003017d ago

@tornapart

Can you please link this story?

Majin-vegeta3017d ago (Edited 3017d ago )

Woudlnt all this be grounds for a lawsuit??He did have Wrongful termination,Wrongful arrest etc....

Hell I know that would have been the first thing I would have done after getting out.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart3017d ago

Yea this is definitely grounds for a lawsuit. They absolutely destroyed this poor man all because he had a different opinion. I hope he sues the hell out of that shrieking harpy who did this to him.

WeAreLegion3017d ago

They would need to find the right court. Judges want to obey the law, but we don't have social media laws yet. The justice system has to catch up with technology.

rainslacker3017d ago (Edited 3017d ago )

@Legion

The method of delivery of ruining another persons life is inconsequential to the actual wrong being done. It's either libel, slander, or harassment....or some combination thereof.

Arrest I'm not sure would be considered false arrest, but it could be false imprisonment. The two things are actually different. It may be a bit different in Canada though. I know in some states in the US, these kinds of things are about on the same level as domestic disputes, and all one needs to get arrested is have a complaint filed against them. In some cases for harassment though, the police can make a judgement call based on the situation, but more often than not, they call the DA or the attorneys which work for the police.

There are grounds for a lawsuit for harassment, and I would actually like to see how one plays out, because it could set some pretty important precedence on matters such as this, thus making it harder for companies to simply avoid the controversy because somehow, it's assumed that an employees personal views are the companies views...which is completely moronic outside the board members, the owners, or the major shareholders.

I've been to France, albeit 20 years ago, and nudity and sexuality was (and most likely still just as is) fairly open. All beaches were/are at least optional topless. TV commercials during the World Cup tournaments had topless women. Late night shows had all sorts of fun stuff on them... and so on...

The thing is, these games are nothing to what the people of France and the rest of Europe see and hold culturally viable. Prude Americans are the ones who freak out about nudity and sexuality. My mother (whom is one of those prude Americans) freaked out about a simple partially-nude statue at a park in Japan. I told her "Wow! You'd better not go to Europe!!!"

Basically what I'm saying is that I don't understand any Western country tying to ban this game... And America can't because of our freedoms.

3017d ago
ChrisW3016d ago

"It's the loudmouthed extremists"

Yeah... I alluded to that when I pointed out "Prude Americans are the ones who freak out about nudity and sexuality."

Okay, so they don't necessarily have to be "Americans" but there are by far MANY, MANY more in America than in all of Europe; even if you include those who adhere to Sharia law, despite them not holding the "traditional Europeans values" that I am referring to.

Majinzo3016d ago

I agree with you. Accidentally clicked no and it will not let me change it. I also find it sick how Lgbt is trying to make everyone gay.

The Married Gamer: Imagine Babyz Review

The Married Gamer: What’s cute, small and loved by nearly everyone even though they poop their pants? Hopefully you said “babies” otherwise, what were you thinking about? Now as adorable and lovable as babies are, maybe you would rather not deal with the dirty diapers and the other wonderfully messy responsibilities of babysitting a real baby. Well Ubisoft can help you there and has released Imagine Babyz for the Nintendo 3DS. Digital babysitting in 3D? Sounds like a good time to me.
