NL:
Can we take a moment to appreciate just how gloriously wacky it is that a game like Paper Mario exists in the first place?
This is an idea that followed in the footsteps of Super Mario RPG, the Square/Nintendo collaboration which in itself marked a big departure in genre for the Mario universe. Nintendo would continue down this path with its own Intelligent Systems at the wheel, yet go off book even further by straying from some honoured RPG conventions and changing the aesthetics entirely! There had to be initial worries about this idea when it was on paper (har har), but the result turned out to be something magical.
Nintendo has used March 10 (aka MAR10 Day) to make a number of Mario related announcements, including an update on Super Mario Bros Movie 2.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion 2 HD for Nintendo Switch have been dated for release during Mar10 day celebrations.
Although Paper Mario has taken more of the spotlight over the years, a reappearance of Super Mario RPG is likely to bring more to the table.
I never played Super Mario RPG so this will be a treat for me. The remake looks amazing!
Paper mario is terrible now lol. Really only the first and thousand year door were great. They should've stayed as rpgs. Man I can't wait for this remake and hope it does well enough for Nintendo to finally make a new mario rpg.
I enjoyed the newest Paper Mario but it's definitely not any kind of RPG anymore. Looking forward this!
