A Fit-To-Burst History Of Kirby Games

NL:
Kirby has always existed to present an appealing leaping-in point for beginner players, a job he has performed well for nearly two dozen years now. And yet, many of the players who helped cut their gaming teeth on a Kirby title still stick with the series after all this time. As more games are added to the Kirby collective, connections and callbacks to the past only grow stronger and more plentiful. He may be a simple pink puff at heart, but Kirby runs a solid thread through the gaming histories of many.

Top 20 Soundtracks From the 16-Bit Era

In the 16-bit era, game devs and composers could finally change the type of tones used in the music, simulating a wider array of instruments and creating a whole lot of great soundtracks in the process.

It wasn’t easy picking out the best of the best because there were so many great ones. Even middle-of-the-road soundtracks seemed to deserve a bump if the game was just that damn good, and so many from that era are that damn good!

Here's the Ghetto Gamer list of top 20 soundtracks from the 16-bit era.

The Legend of Zelda Should Follow Kirby's Example on Switch

The number of Kirby games has grown year after year, but The Legend of Zelda is comparatively more barren on the Switch despite its success.

The Switch has: Breath of the Wild, Links Awakening Remake, Skyward Sword HD, Hyrule Warriors (1 and 2), Cadence of Hyrule, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and there's rumors that both Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD are being ported very soon as well as Breath of the Wild 2 on the way.

Not sure how LoZ is "comparatively more barren" when nearly the entire main franchise plus multiple spin-offs (the thing the author is complaining about yet they exist) are available to play this second. Sure, Kirby goes off the rails with how different each entry can feel, but pretty much each entry in the Loz series plays different and there's something for everyone. It's also harder to make spin-offs make sense with the franchise. The ones we've gotten have done that well, but it's limited.

Kirby also doesn't have the most consistent track record with spin-offs in terms of quality.

Speaking of TLoZ, wait until the next Nintendo Direct, there should be more remakes, Wind Waker and Twlight Princess, and also Metroid Prime remake, I need them 😁

I never got to play the prime games much. I had played halo before I ever tried prime. I had a hard time moving from twin stick controls.

Oh you will love Metroid Prime then, if Nintendo does remaster it and you get it for Switch. I finished it 20 years ago, 2002. Man that went by fast😊. It's an amazing game one of the best Metroid games, it received on IGN 9.8, GameSpot 9.7. I think you will love it.

Metroid Prime is one of the best games ever made. :)

XxINFERNUSxX I have been wanting to for years now. I tried to get the PC mouse and keyboard emulation going, but I couldn't find an ISO I was willing to trust since nintendo went scorched earth on the rom sites. I would prefer buy it of course but I don't have any hardware I could buy a legitimate copy for. So fingers crossed the trilogy gets a switch port.

Kirby's Dream Land, A Thirty Year Reunion

WTMG's Oliver Shellding: "We can respect and acknowledge those that came before us: it’s just good manners and showcases that we know our history. I will always be appreciative of Kirby’s Dream Land, and I think that Kirby enthusiasts (as well as Gameboy fans) should go back and give it a try. Yes, it looks and plays better in almost every subsequent incarnation, but there’s heart here. There’s a lot of care and soul and amazing groundwork that led to even better things. And, most importantly, there’s Kirby."

Easily one of my childhood favorites.

JEECE611d ago

This was one of the first, if not the first, Gameboy games I played all the way through.

Still my favorite in the series.
