When Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim was released in the West in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, it was the first game we had seen from the series in nearly 14 years. The last one was Ys III: The Wanderers from Ys for the Super Nintendo that arrived back in 1991. That isn't to say that this particular series had budged much. The last Ys title had been out only eight years prior. Developer Nihon Falcom had spent most of that time focusing on remakes and remasters of the Ys catalog.
VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "The PSP was blessed with multiple entries and this support continued onto the Vita, with remakes, ports, and a brand new title releasing over the course of the handheld’s life. It made the franchise a perfect choice for this series of articles, because although the series' future definitely isn’t on Sony’s handhelds at this point, it still had some brilliant representation over the past 12 years.
So in this article I’ll be looking back at a history of the franchise on Sony’s handhelds, from its origins on the PSP right through the latest release on Vita, with an emphasis on the quality of the ports to the handhelds as well as any sales figures that are available, alongside a conclusion of how well the franchise has done on the platforms."
Oath at Fhelgana, Seven, Memories of Celceta and Lacrimosa of Dana are amazing games. I adore the Ys series, and Adol is one of my favorite JRPG characters ever.
With games being made all around the world, titles can sometimes be difficult to pronounce. Here are 10 games that can leave people tongue tied.
Deus Ex - They Use X
Ehrgeiz - Ear gease?
Disgaea - This guy ya
Cthulhu - Coo thoo loo
Atelier - Ah teh liar?
It may be shown up by later entries in the series, but Ys VI remains a good time ten years later.
