Could this be the next project from developer Koji Igarashi?

Final Fantasy and Castlevania Creators Discuss the Rise, Decline and Revival of Japanese Video Games

Hironobu Sakaguchi and Koji Igarashi discuss how the Japanese gaming scene turned sour, and how it's since revived.

NES to PS2 was really the golden age for Japanese games. Once the 360 and PS3 came around western developers surpassed what the Japanese were doing.

I really don’t understand how in a single generation almost all Japanese developers couldn’t make anything as stand out as they did in the PS1 and PS2 eras.

Vote for either Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night at the bottom of the article! 🎮😄

SOTN for sure. Both are really great games but SOTN just has an incredible OST that sets it a level above! The music immerses you in it's world and sets the emotional tone of the entire experience. I found Bloodstained's sound track, and therefore world, mostly forgettable by comparison. Will say the opening title screen music in Bloodstained is awesome though.

The last stage for bloodstained was pure trash. The oversized world was just jarring to get through.
SOTN is one of the best games of all time

Bloodstained Is Goth Fun In An All-Too-Familiar Package

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a very good solution to a problem we haven’t really had for years: a dearth of side-scrolling exploration games with role-playing bells and whistles. The long-gestating, Kickstarted return of celebrated developer and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night mastermind Koji Igarashi, Bloodstained, does fans of haunted cathedrals and combat whips proud.

Your asking Kotaku to have any general knowledge when it comes to gaming?
