Hey Poor Player's Francis DiPersio writes - "While beloved in Japan since its inception on the PC Engine, Nihon Falcom’s Ys series has often struggled to find relevancy in the western market. With Nintendo’s phenomenally successful The Legend of Zelda series claiming the action-adventure throne, the Ys series has largely gone unnoticed by generations of console gamers, and that’s a crying shame."
VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "The PSP was blessed with multiple entries and this support continued onto the Vita, with remakes, ports, and a brand new title releasing over the course of the handheld’s life. It made the franchise a perfect choice for this series of articles, because although the series' future definitely isn’t on Sony’s handhelds at this point, it still had some brilliant representation over the past 12 years.
So in this article I’ll be looking back at a history of the franchise on Sony’s handhelds, from its origins on the PSP right through the latest release on Vita, with an emphasis on the quality of the ports to the handhelds as well as any sales figures that are available, alongside a conclusion of how well the franchise has done on the platforms."
Oath at Fhelgana, Seven, Memories of Celceta and Lacrimosa of Dana are amazing games. I adore the Ys series, and Adol is one of my favorite JRPG characters ever.
With games being made all around the world, titles can sometimes be difficult to pronounce. Here are 10 games that can leave people tongue tied.
Deus Ex - They Use X
Ehrgeiz - Ear gease?
Disgaea - This guy ya
Cthulhu - Coo thoo loo
Atelier - Ah teh liar?
It may be shown up by later entries in the series, but Ys VI remains a good time ten years later.

I would guess 8.5ish very solid game without even reading the review. The Y's games are very good but they are not Zelda.
Wait is this using the same system as Ys3?
Brings back memories of the PSP age. This was my first PSP game, as well as Ys game. These games always had a decent difficulty to them.
have this on PS2 was a really good game.
Not sure how Ys 3 was, but here you have three swords you can toggle between (red, blue and yellow) and level up. They all are largely the same in practice though with the red one sporting a charge up attack.
