Unlike many other forms of entertainment, video games as a medium have always been tied to computers and therefore the Internet. This connection has fostered one of the most vocal and influential consumer bases in existence today. For decades now, there have been message boards and forums dedicated to every kind of game. The growth of online gaming has only furthered the power of the collective consumer voice inside of this industry. Many great things and some not-so-great things have been done with this voice. As the industry moves forward, it would help gamers to reflect on the power they wield as engaged consumers. Hopefully, this examination will not only encourage more people to speak up, but also inspire people to consider what they are saying.
