The events of the 2 day mobile gaming conference event Pocket Gamer Bangalore came to a close on the 17th of April 2015. The event focused on mobile game development, short lectures from notable mobile developers and Game Hack, an indie game development competition.
Back in 2006, mobile gaming meant simplistic Java games played on feature phones with small non-touch screens and physical numerical keys. Suffice to say, while Pocket Gamer faithfully covered the fledgling mobile games industry with a distinct sense that something big was about to happen, many of the biggest kicks came from a peaking handheld industry.
Something that really seemed to upset readers is the Pocket Gamer review of Lost Socks: Naughty Brothers. While Harry gave the game a very respectable and deserving Bronze Award, many readers didn't think that wasn’t quite high enough.
The rumours are true (no, not those): in March 2016 Pocket Gamer is officially 10 years old. Sometime back in March 2006 the founding fathers of Steel Media popped a cork (see accompanying photo for photo) and unleashed a brand new website.
