Star Wars Battlefront Looks Fantastic In First Screenshot, Releases On November 17

The very first Star Wars Battlefront screenshot has leaked and it looks every bit as amazing as DICE had promised.

The website source code also confirmed the release date.

I can buy it looking like that to be honest. It is DICE and they have been working on it for a while. Not on the 360 or PS3 either.

Idk man, there is not one sign of aliasing on it, that usually means bullshot.

Yeah, but bullshot does not really equate to "fake graphics". Cleaning up the aliasing makes things look better for sure, but it doesn't really change the fundamental graphical composition.

The PC version will be sweet as hell and both console versions will be good, but almost identical. Maybe a tiny difference in resolution, but they'll be so similar that it wont matter.

So what? We're just going to get a CGI trailer? They've been revving this up for ages. That'll be heaps disappointing. In-engine means nothing because you crank all the settings to high and have 8K with uber sampling, 12k textures and 32x MSAA, then downscale that to a 1080p video.

could be but for sure the short teaser is from a cinematic. Simply look at character animations, some tripping, some scared looking at the walker and putting gun down. That's not how player controlled characters can behave. BTW Dev also added it's in-engine trailer and we know what in-engine means. In-engine IS NOT same as real-time gameplay.

Look, I'm not saying the gameplay will look just as impressive as tomorrow's trailer, because trailers almost always look better than raw gameplay.

I'm simply saying that the developers are saying this is how the game looks. I have no reason to doubt that the game will generally have visuals in the same ballpark, which is enough to still be massively impressive, imo.

History doesn't indicate what you seem to think it does. The majority of games look very much like their pre-release media. It's fairly rare for a game to be genuinely downgraded.

What was shown is likely the base specs for what it will look like on all 3, on PC clearly can look better, but he is likely stating that what is shown is not footage off of a PC and that on PC it can clearly look better.....but that footage has yet to be seen.

That is again not saying it will always under all settings look like that on PC, merely that it will look like that across all 3, on PC clearly better.

At the rest, to say it can't look like that and some how its either fake or CGI etc, we've already seen footage from this game early on and Frostbite 3 has yet to actually be fully supported exclusively on next gen hardware.

Though BF4 was their first taste of next gen hardware, they didn't get to put as much work in that as they clearly are on this project. On next gen hardware and PC....this game very much can look that great.

Mind you, how many next gen only titles from the ground up can we even compare this title to, to say otherwise?

Anyone who thinks this game will look like this is sadly mistaken, it wont come anywhere close to this not even on PC. Best to start tempering those expectations now. Don't get me wrong I know it will look good but consoles couldn't pull that off and neither could anything less then a super computer costing many many thousands of dollars.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Some developers are just really good at optimising and Dice has had access not only to all the movie props but it has visited the locations as well.

Remember Star Wars RS III Rebel Strike? The Endor sequences looked great, and that was a Gamecube game!

Not really as DICE isn't the one who has control over the IP nor release dates nor the number of platforms a game releases on. The quality of work on BF4's launch in terms of networking is clearly due to a rushed schedule and not just bad work by DICE.

Mind you, its one of the highest played MP games right now with millions still playing post launch. I would legit cast the blame on EA......

Other publishers might have just delayed the next gen versions, or even past gen versions etc in order to get the game networking correctly.

as much as i want it to be, I'm highly skeptical thats a gameplay capture. amazing if it is but one thing i've learned over the last year is to temper graphic fidelity expectations pre-launch... (looking at you watchdogs, the crew, ac unity and so on)

We all know its PC footage no doubt. I just hate when they tweeted out that it will look like that on console as well. Wishful thinking considering Dice and EA have both lied about this for many years now. I just hope it launches better then BF3 and BF4. I think this could either redeem Dice and EA or break them as whole and the community will turn there back on them finally.
