Is Talking About Mother 3 Translations on Miiverse Criminal Activity? Evidently, Yes.

One Miiverse user found out the hard way that Mother 3 translations lead to a life of criminal activity.

The only thing that is criminal about Mother 3 is Nintendos refusal to release it outside of japan....

Wonder_Punk3312d ago

ugh with the disagrees lol. Seriously? Yes I understand that it WAS wrong of someone to post a link to a rom hack. Lighten the $*%& up people..

KryptoniteTail3312d ago

It wasn't wrong to link to it.

Xof3312d ago

Despite communicating almost exclusively in hyperbole, the average N4G has no understanding of what it is or how to recognize it.

SilverClock3311d ago

I fail to see what there is to disagree with in his comment. He simply wants an awesome game to reach more people.

MrSwankSinatra3312d ago

I don't know why Nintendo just doesn't release all three mother games translated in English as a trilogy on the 3DS.

Mother = Earthbound Zero
Mother 2 = Earthbound
Mother 3 = Earthbound II

Release and see how it performs and if it does really well then maybe approach the idea of a Mother 4.

NecotheSergal3312d ago

The creator himself has quite sternly said "No Mother 4, just nope". And that he's looking forward to the fan-release coming whenever it does.

MrSwankSinatra3312d ago

doesn't matter what the creator says. Nintendo owns earthbound, not him. Earthbound can continue with or without him.

KryptoniteTail3312d ago

They released all three on GBA in Japan. They can at least translate that and put it on VC, damn it.

Also, keep hope for Mother 4, don't care what pessimists say. The creator's mind can change or they can make it without him.

BudokaiGamer3312d ago

They posted a link, that is one of the rules that you sign up for when getting you NNID. You can't post links on Miiverse. So there is that.

And then talking about ROMs, which are illegal, is a criminal activity. Especially if you are posting where to find said ROM.

So yes, yes it is a criminal activity. Why is this even a question?

Shnazzyone3312d ago

Exactly, and who posts links in miiverse, they wouldn't even go anywhere. User didn't get banned but the post was removed for pretty obvious reasons.

KryptoniteTail3312d ago (Edited 3312d ago )

While Nintendo can moderate its own sites as much as it likes, it doesn't change the fact that no illegal activity transpired.

You're a highly ignorant sheep, aren't you? I hope you don't live in America, then it would be understandable since you don't have the full range of rights and freedoms we do. Let me educate you, son.

See, it isn't illegal to talk about ROMs even if they are illegal (which is actually debatable under certain circumstances I won't delve into). We can talk about anything illegal we want. I can look up and talk about recipes for meth and share them on Facebook if I'd like, as long as I don't make it, ask someone else to, or anything like that related to its creation or distribution. It's just exercising your rights. Freedom of speech isn't just nice things, remember that.

Damn, man, people these days, I swear. Forefathers died for your rights and you s*** on yours and everyone else's. Even linking to it isn't illegal. It's just a combination of letters, numbers and marks which only mean something once they're entered as a URL, and it can't even be used directly in Nintendo's Miiverse, plus nobody has to click the link or download anything, it's up to the individual.

TL;DR: Nothing illegal happened, sheeple.

Shnazzyone3312d ago (Edited 3312d ago )

you do realize noone got arrested, Right? Criminal activity is just the category the moderator removed the post under. Who cares.

gamingpro3312d ago

While I agree with most of your post, you come across like a typical ignorant American.

"If you don't live in America, then it would be understandable, since you don't have the full range of rights and freedoms we do" WTF

You really believe America is the only place in the world with rights and freedom? The land of the free where you have to pay for your own healthcare?
You should educate yourself as that's the most dumbest statement I've heard in my whole life.

I live in England, UK and have full range of rights and freedom as do other countries. If your head wasn't stuck up your own "butt" then you would know this.

Dumb Americans smh

BudokaiGamer3312d ago

He was saying, "go to this site and download this illegal ROM with a translation patch."

Downloading the ROM is illegal...so yeah...why would you want that promoted?

Concertoine3311d ago

Just because we can talk about how to make meth or get away with murder doesn't mean we should.

Lmao, "sheeple". Not sure if trolling.

SilverClock3311d ago

Bro people will take you more seriously when half of your post isn't insulting them. Or you're just trolling, in which case, try harder. You gotta do it in such a way that the other person doesn't even know they're being trolled.

Someone mentioned an emulator on a miiverse thread i was reading and i asked if an emulator was hardware or software- My post was pulled and i received the same mssg about illegal activity

I wonder if i asked what the specific definition of armed robbery was - would i get the same response?

Sharing a song from Pokémon ORAS got me permanently banned, so I'd say anything's possible.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online is the New Miiverse

With its new ways of both creating and sharing user-made content, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become the unexpected successor to Nintendo’s beautiful disaster of a social media experiment Miiverse.

franwex1839d ago

Miiverse was insanity, and it was hilarious. It had a super strange community, there’s a bunch of YouTube videos about it.
I have smash ultimate, but haven’t checked out the new update. I’ll for sure take a look.

Snookies121839d ago (Edited 1839d ago )

I'm interested to check it out as well. Haven't played Smash in a while now... I think it was my issues with having multiple people play at once. The controller drifting and input lag was terrible. Not sure if they fixed that yet, but it was a pain to play when I had 3-4 friends on at the same time.

Gemmol1839d ago

Send your switch in not everyone have that issue, only one that listed that others experience is drifting issue but input lag and playing with 4 people do not have any issues

A Miiverse Eulogy: So Long to the First True Social Video Game Platform

The Miiverse gave myself, and so many others, a platform unlike any console had ever seen before. For once, our reactions to games, both about them generally and in the moment-to-moment, were given life in the games themselves. The Miiverse's concept was novel, fresh, new. It felt like the first true social video game platform. And it's a shame that it was for a console that hardly anyone actually played.
