Xbox One Final Fantasy Type-0 Misses the Top 50; Battlefield Hardline Manages as PS4 Dominates Japan

Japan is proving to be a very tough market for the Xbox One. Today Media Create released its full top 50 software chart for the week between March 16th and March 22nd. Unexpectedly the version for Microsoft’s console of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD failed to appear in the rankings, despite the fact that the PS4 version grabbed the top of the charts with 92,094 units sold.

March is looking to be a good month for the PS4. With Final Fantasy, Bloodborne and MLB 15 I wouldn't be surprised if the console itself performs similar to when Destiny released back in September. BTW how can one be surprised that the final Fantasy port didn't make the top 50 if there aren't a lot of xbox ones out in Japan.

Finally the Japanese are regaining their senses. Proofs that their taste is bad because of their flip flop mentality.

why is SE even bothered to release it on the Xbone to begin with? it was rather awkward because they made FFXIII exclusive to the PS3 there last gen when there were more 360 at that time then the Xbone right now.

The Japanese (and other) gamers in Japan that purchased the Xbox One and 360 are certainly dedicated despite the low numbers.

the japanese market is way too different.
MS will never do well there, at least they are trying.

MasterCornholio3341d ago

In my opinion they tried harder with the 360 especially by bringing JRPGs like Lost Odyssey to it. I have no idea why the are not doing the same with the XB1.

who knows. Maybe they will, I think Phil Spencer is trying. Hes got a lot to fix and personally I like xbox because of him.

Maybe one day Japan will too, but for now its just not the same market.

My biggest surprise is BattleField Hardline selling beyond my expectations.

How Final Fantasy’s First M-Rated Game Laid the Foundation for XVI’s Dark Tone

Final Fantasy XVI demonstrates how the franchise has matured since the release of its first M-rated installment, Final Fantasy Type-0.

Type-0 Is The Darkest Final Fantasy Ever Made

DS: “I hate that Type-0 is forgotten among the Final Fantasy games. While not the strongest entry, its mature story makes it stand out from the others. And even though Final Fantasy now has three rated M games — including Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy XVI, — Type-0 will always have the crown of being the first, and arguably the darkest.”

i agree that it is indeed dark, but it has its issues.

and i feel like the ending is what makes it really a dark final fantasy game.

the rest is more or less war where teenagers fight.

This game was the epitome of the FF dark age pretty much, was hella boring and the gameplay was tedious. I'm glad SE got the series back on track

gold_drake342d ago

well, it was more of a spin off rly.
especially after they dropped the fabula nova crystalis stuff

I actually really love this game, the main problem however was that the entire story and personality of the characters, was in the lore that you need to dig very deep to find and external materials outside of the game, honestly it has my favorite lore in the franchise, I wish they had made the game more story focused, god it would have been a masterpiece

It's Time For Resident Evil's Most Unique Mode to Make a Comeback

With series staple Mercenaries Mode returning to the Resident Evil 4 Remake, it’s time to remind fans of another mostly forgotten mode from the RE series. Reaching the second chapter in the 2012 3DS game Resident Evil: Revelations unlocked something called Raid Mode for players to enjoy. Unlike Mercenaries, Raid Mode is not a time-attack mode and instead operates as a more RPG-lite version of the main game. While players are expected to try and hammer down on a handful of levels in Mercenaries, Raid Mode gives players a much more expansive game type to play around with.

This mode was included in ports released on the seventh and eighth generations of consoles and was part of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, which was released in 2015. However, the Revelations duology is the only time that Raid Mode has existed in the massive Resident Evil franchise, and that should change in some future release.

I'd like to raid mode make a return in the future. When Capcom was hacked there was a as of yet announced RE game in there that I was hoping might turn into Revelations 3. There were also reports that whatever that RE game was scrapped and cancelled.
