Remaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox One and PS4 might not be such a bad idea

GameZone: As you’re probably well aware by now, the petition to remaster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for next-gen consoles (Xbox One and PS4) hit its goal of 150,000 signatures. The milestone was met with no response from publisher Activision, which is a bit unfortunate because the idea of remastering a previous Call of Duty game isn’t actually a bad one.

MW2 was the last one I truly enjoyed. Camping with all the explosives and the perks to go along with them was a great time, with the nuke being the ultimate prize of course, lol.

I don't really see them doing this in between their yearly releases, but if they did I'd like to see WaW in there too, never played that one for some reason.

That was my loadout template. OMA, was okay, but I preferred this method a bit more. The game was unbalanced, and that's what made it fun to me.

I'd likely be a buyer if they made this, and I know others would be too. Might be interesting to see if they listen to the demand, there are studios that specialize in ports, maybe someone else could do it for them.

It is a terrible idea. We don't need the yearly CoD title and a CoD remake every year too. What we need, is a true break from CoD. Reduce it back down to one studio who puts out a killer game every 3 years.

@XBL does have a point. If this thing goes through then Acti will have an idea of remastering all these COD's to further flood the market of COD's.

Acti will pocket another 1.5mill that's ridiculous sells for a 6 year old game.

Then they might be doing that every other year which is the last thing we need when talking franchise fatigue.

Remember when I was like 13 after matches of facing some noobtubes I'd dig through my stuff and find my mic just to yell at em about how much they got the hell on my nerves. Like they cared tho haha.

I'd welcome MW2 tho if they'd tone down oma, tubes, commando, n tweaked some of the spawns. Getting trapped by an AC130 in skidrow or terminal for ex sucked a lot. Mw2 is one of my favorites tho, really fluid, great maps, great ks, and it's fun going after nukes.

I'd actually be surprised if they didn't do MW/MW2 remakes/remasters. I'm sure it would bring back a lot of ex-CoD players and that sounds like a smart business move.

COD4 MW was soooooo much a better game then MW2. Still had cmpaing newbs but it didn't reward corner camping not playing the objective.

I just want the campaigns from MW and MW2. I'll be so happy. They do look pretty good on PC, but there's more they could do. Just a shame the original IW is gone. They were the only COD team I liked. :/

A new CoD comes out for what it feels like every 6 months. Why remake an old CoD when new ones are being pumped out at a ridiculous rate.

Why Modern Warfare 2? To me it had the best campaign in the Modern Warfare series, but also had the most broken multiplayer I've ever played in an FPS. Maybe that's it's unique charm? I don't know. I personally would love a port of Black Ops 2 for current gen consoles. That would be awesome in my opinion. Or another World at War would be alright too :)

COD 4 was the best and that is the one that should be remastered and MW2 is the game that changed the COD series in a bad way as since that most of the games seem the same in some way.

If they going to keep making titanfall want to be cod game, they for sure need to bring back modern warfare 2.... Cause everyone I play with hates the new cod... The guns no fun, the jumping/flying takes from the game,...
85% of cod players play it because it was the closest thing we could get to the Real army n ect... But when they made a game that our army don't have made it no fun!!!! I'm sure some loved it

NO ONE is going to buy a remaster of a COD game especially now when PS3/360 are still being supported by Activision. A possible remaster would need to come to PS3/360 as well......Also take into account that MW2 Remaster just wouldn't sell on its usual November release date. That means it would need to release around Summer or even earlier. Do we really want 2 Call Of Duty games a year because that's the ONLY way a MW2 remaster would get the green light.

First of all I agree that remastering any CoD game is ludicrous...but I must question why you say it must come to ps3/360? One of the primary reasons to remaster is to take advantage of new tech and do things that weren't previously possible...claiming that a remaster would HAVE to be launched on the same consoles as the original game is just as ludicrous as the thought of remastering CoD in the first place.

You really think MW2 is worth a "remaster"? Thats a PS3/360. Best they can do with that is make it native 1080p.

It's a silly thing to ask. There will be no MW2 remaster. NEVER. It just doesn't make any sense at all. We will probably get MW4 though and maybe even some blast from the past map packs? That's the best people can hope for.

MW2 was TRASH. TRASH. TRASH. How anyone could possibly want MW2 over CoD4 Needs to have their head examined because the know nothing about map design. The Maps in COD4 were balanced and fun as hell. The kill streaks were simple and didn't have hell raining down every 5 seconds.

I would buy a remastered online only CoD4 MW on the PS Store in a heart beat. Would I take SOCOM 2 HD over that? Any day but Sony doesn't really care that much about my money. You could say "Go play it on PS3" well it's probably STILL filled with PoS little kid hackers.
