Destiny: How to beat this weeks nightfall with ease

This weeks nightfall is Omnigul and the modifiers are:
Nightfall – If all players die, you will be returned to orbit.
Epic - Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers.
Arc burn - Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.
Angry - Minions of the Darkness won't flinch, even after massive damage
LightSwitch - Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

These articles are kind of pointless now. How many times do we have to see a tutorial of Omnigul strike? Oh, a different burn, lets do another video! It was a great idea to do once for each strike but this is extremely pointless now.

Drekken3345d ago

What has been done in Destiny has been done 10 times over. I don't understand how people grind this game still. They all know next DLC will render their efforts null and void. A vendor will sell gear better than the gear they worked hard to earn.

Christopher3344d ago

Actually, no, a vendor won't sell better gear. The best gear is purposefully kept from the vendors. You have to raid or hope RNG loves you on Nightfall to get them. You can't get to level 32 on vendor gear, only level 30.

InTheLab3344d ago

@Christopher

IB vendor sells lvl 32 gear for glimmer provided you have the rep...

Christopher3344d ago

@InTheLab: Which requires you to PvP for how long before you can get them and is available how often? I don't think Drekken was talking about the once every two month vendor who requires you to grind PvP. I think he meant general vendors and the weapons they offer. And, even then, I wouldn't call that a good example of being able to buy the gear you need since it doesn't give you many of the exotics that allow you to succeed or raid weapons that allow you to go beyond (I still want a fatebringer).

N4Flamers3344d ago

@ christopher. he said a venor will have better gear than what you have now. That is true. just like with the dark below vendors will sell gear that is one level higher than your current max and have weapons with a higher attack rating than the max now. You will have to beat the HOW raid to get gear thats one levelbetter than that. so vendors will sell lvl 33 and raid will offer lvl 34.

From what I've seen in the matchmaking on the Weekly Heroic Strikes, not everyone uses the known effective strategies for each strike - so having these videos around and constantly fresh helps increase the chance that those inexperienced players will watch them. Yes, occasionally I get paired with someone with some sense, but most of the time (especially more often when I'm playing with my 27 Hunter and 28 Titan and am limited to the lvl24 and lvl 28 heroic strike) the people I get paired with just run and gun without ANY strategy whatsoever. My 31 Warlock gets better pairings, because most of the 30-31 lvl players have some sense and have done a little research into the easy effective ways of beating the Strikes (they usually have mics too).

@Jeff
I respect your opinion and understand if you are completely worn out of Destiny, but the servers are still VERY active and there are still plenty of new players to Destiny every week that aren't going to try and dig up old videos for each of the strikes. Also, sometimes a different burn forces a completely different strategy that requires a whole new video or exploits that made strikes easy in the past have been patched out. Remember no one is forcing you to watch these videos or visit these websites.

kayoss3344d ago

I honestly think that Omnigul nightfall is probably one of the hardest strike to beat solo.

GameSpawn3344d ago

@Kayoss

It is. I've done it myself. The trick is to stay back outside of Omnigul's room and pick off most of the "adds" until you can run in and pull off a few head shots (if you do not have Arc weapons to match the burn - Wizards and Omnigul have Solar shields, so Solar weapons, including Icebreaker will quickly take down their shields). As soon as you hear Omnigul scream, get the hell out of the room. Her scream signals more adds to flood the room from all sides (cursed thralls come from the side room just outside of Omnigul's room).

Beware, depending on your level soloing Omnigul can be an hour long process (or longer), but if you are patient it can be done. If you are more than 2 levels below and don't have a fully leveled Icebreaker or burn matched weapons don't bother because enemies shields will restore before you can reload meaning you are wasting more ammo taking out their shields than actually doing damage.

ABMN3344d ago

Thank you. I appreciate what you said here. I do agree with the above comments, about it not being needed for this nightfall. And that is true for those people, but people are coming on line in destiny everyday. Those new people don't know how to do everything nor do experienced guardians know where all the cheese spots. Heck. I don't know all the cheese spots. I have learn more cheese spots for people leaving comments on my videos that I knew before hand. That's one of the reasons I love doing the videos.

JeffGUNZ3344d ago

I am not worn out on Destiny, I love it! I am just saying these walkthroughs are rendundant since there has been multiple walkthroughs of the same strike, substituting a burn mod.

kparks3344d ago (Edited 3344d ago )

@gamespawn this is a nightfall strike walkthrough no matchmaking your playing solo or with friends who i hope if they are new they would listen to you. On the other hand if ur doing a heroic again put ur mic on and tell them a good strategy if they dont listen to you i doubt there gonna want to look up one of the millions of how to play destiny videos online so either way you look at this its still irrelevant.

kparks3344d ago (Edited 3344d ago )

I completely agree. When these were new i get it but now your just abusing the system. Your linking to your own article, and straight to your youtube just for hits, please give it a rest till the house of wolves dlc comes out, you need to double check the posting guidelines and yeah there bendable but come on 15 different walkthroughs of the same strike is overkill.

ABMN3344d ago

This is the 3rd omnigul nightfall strike. It is the first with these modifiers. It may not been something you need or would even normally watch and that's fine. But why do you feel the need to tell the world you don't need a walk through? HEY GUYS, this guy is so good at this game he doesn't need to be shown how to do things. Let's all give him a round of applause.

If you don't need it, just pass over it. Don't watch. Just let those who need/enjoy these videos do just that. Making comments like this make you seem butter that you are able, creative, or dedicated enough to try to help out the community in your feel time.

JeffGUNZ3344d ago

@ ABMN

Stop taking it so personal. Kparks is right. The first walkthrough of each strike was great, good work man. Now, a 3rd time showing basically the same thing over and over with different mods is overkill. Nothing really changes other then juggler or lightswitch. Yet, those are so miniscule to the actual walkthrough that these videos become repetitive. The safe spots really don't change because juggler is on or it's arch instead of solar.

kparks3344d ago

@ABMN and i have passed over it, ive done so several times a week for months. But its to the point now that its getting redundant, ive been around this site a really long time and its not right to come into our community and start spamming destiny videos to try to better your youtube channel and link to personal websites for hits yes at one point these videos had a point.. Now they dont.

SaveFerris3344d ago

I agree. Depending on when Destiny 2 drops, we could be seeing these articles for sometime yet, huh? And if Destiny is meant to have a 10 year lifespan...

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter349d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell349d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig349d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast349d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g349d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka349d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai500d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface499d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
