Gears of War 2: Reemergence has begun

Last night on Gametrailers TV, Geoff Keighly along with various members of the Gears of War 2 development team, including Cliff Bleszinski debuted new footage and information for us all to clamor over. During the episode, they touched on various topics such as the single player campaign, the multiplayer experience and also shared a few tidbits about the upcoming comic book. Before you watch this you have to ask yourself this question; "What do I want to see from Gears of War 2?" and when you receive the answer after watching the show, you will see that you'll be far from being disappointed.

How can you even compare GoW2 to R2? GoW2 is more of the same as GoW. R2 is a completely different game than R:FoM.

STORY:
With R2, Insomniac is telling the story in a completely different way, steering clear of the narrator this time around. And the story is set in a completely new place with new HUGE maps.

GoW2 looks to be more of the same that was in GoW. Plus, the story was never the strong suit of GoW, unlike R:FoM, which was a deep, compelling story.

GRAPHICS:
While GoW2 looks awesome, it doesn't look much better than GoW. It looks like the textures and color have improved, but that's about it.

With R2, the graphics look stellar and there is no doubt that this is a 3rd-gen PS3.

And, most importantly...

GAMEPLAY:

With GoW2, again more of the same. With R2, it is a complete overhaul, with a single player campaign, a separate co-op campaign, and 60 player multiplayer.

I don't see how you can even begin to compare where Insomniac is taking R2 as opposed to where Epic is taking GoW2.

thats what i always thought about any game...if its gameplay is refreshing and entertaining, then i dont care about the graphic too much...it only ADDS to the game, but having a bad graphic game with awesome gameplay doesnt take away from it

Oh boy did MGS4 did get overboard, im not going to say much because i have not played it yet.. but ANY game i hear was amazing i have high expectations and when i play my expectations get shot down and it wasnt so great as i thought..

im kind of afraid to look at any screenies, movies and what not about a game anymore, im afraid it may look good, look movie previews but ends up a disappointment and not what i think it would be like

I can't wait for GoW2 to come out. Hopefully the 100 enemies will be something that is done throughout the game and not some lame background thing. Also why are people comparing GoW with Resistance? Fanboys need to start enjoying games instead of trying to compare two different types of shooters.

i love how ps3 owners say that gears of war 2 looks like gears of war 1, what do you want it to look like? bloody pikmin? all sequels have a similar look to their prequels, i didn't hear anyoe complaining that resident evil 2 & 3 or onimusha 1 & 2 looked practically the same, and correct me if im wrong here but aint most of the enemies that were in resistance 1 returning for resistance 2.... this article is about gears of war 2, i didn't see resistance 2 anywhere in the title, did you? the only reason your bashing gears of war is because you know in your heart of hearts that gears of war 2 is simply gonna be BETTER than resistance 2.... and because of that you constantly try to play the game dowm..... its gonna have a more involving story, longer campaign, bigger miltiplayer, destructable enviroments, new weapons, weapon specific executions, more vehicles to use, i mean come on, what more do you want? lol

what brought gears of war down was the story. there was none. even when their commander died i was like, eh. and all the characters felt generic . so hopefully the writer that they brought in will make the experience and characters come to life.

The minor points of the story were really dull for the most part. It worked ok as a back story kind of story.

The parts that were there that weren't boring were more foreshadowing the upcoming stuff than being part of the immediate story. The stuff about why the locust are fighting especially brings up an interesting possible duality.

they are stating that there will be over 100 enemies on screen at times and it wont just be an interactive cutscene.

By my reckoning the graphics on Gears2 enemies will be more detailed than that of NG2 enemies.

Towards the end of NG2 there is apart of the game with over 30 enemy ninjas onscreen at same time (going up steps part).

This segment of the game caused slowdown of epic proportions,thus if Gears has 100 enemies on screen, and more detailed then frame rate is gonna drop to like 5 per second........

Maybe on the xbox 4 or ps5 at 30fps with 100 detailed enemies at the same time..........

Dead Rising showed thousands of zombies on screen at once and they were fairly well detailed and I didn't experience any framerate issues. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

the 360 could handle it right i think. resistence 1 had about 40 enimies heavily detailed at once and it went find so did mgs4 and heavenly. well heres praying for u bots.
