The Most Amazing Destiny Screenshot You'll Ever see

In spite of all that Bungie promised for Destiny before launch, of how much the game encourages grinding, and of how the story is presented, I personally maintain that it’s a great game. Sure, there are plenty of things to improve on, but Bungie sure got a lot right – case in point, Destiny looks gorgeous. As a result, it spawned some pretty impressive player-captured screenshots; none, however, come close to this one.

I'm sure you would certainly get many coming close to that one if attempted.

"Stopping at that particular point in time – in the middle of a melee – showcases just how beautiful Destiny really is, and how much effort went into crafting the game. The vibrant colours, the particles dancing across the screen, the electricity shimmering down the player’s arm, the focus distortion, the shadows, the individual rocks and pebbles, and even a glimpse of the green night sky above – all these elements combine to form one ordinary moment of gameplay captured in one gorgeous screenshot."

LOL, the most cherry picked scene ever, goes to show how beautiful Destiny is. lol. It's a great looking screen shot, but Destiny wouldn't make anyone's top 5 or even 10 graphics.

It was made for both gens. I actually think that that hurt ots development.

Anyway, Destiny is a great game. It's frustrating though b/c of what it could have been. Had they completely taken the WoW route, it may have been one of the best ever made.

The textures may not be the most realistic, but the artwork, lighting, and AA are on point. Not to mention it has some of the most detailed enemies Ive ever seen in a game.

KwietStorm_BLM3354d ago

Some of the most detailed enemies you've ever seen in a game.. Do you play different genres? How long have you been gaming? There's like 3 enemy races in the game and about 2 or 3 classes each lol. They don't come close to the detail in other games I've played, with way more varied enemies.

mrcatastropheAF3354d ago (Edited 3354d ago )

So you clearly don't play Destiny. Which is perfectly fine, it's not for everybody but that doesn't make spreading false information seem any less lame.

There are currently 4 main species attempting to snuff out Guardians. They are the Fallen, The Vex, The Hive and The cabal. Each with their own hierarchy and variations in design with each echelon.

The Fallen alone have 6 classes within their species and several houses to which various Fallen swear allegiance to. The species suffers from internal strife and war amongst themselves. The Hive have 8 classes and are broken up by religious sects as they warship different hive deities.

The Vex follow a similar structure to Hive have arguably one of the most difficult/unique boss battle designs ever made in Aetheon.

Of all things you can knock destiny for, enemy design is not one of them.

So a blurry blue light is amazing.

Great screenshot, but better ones could be taken

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter348d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood348d ago (Edited 348d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro348d ago (Edited 348d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881348d ago (Edited 348d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell348d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig348d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast348d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername348d ago (Edited 348d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g348d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka348d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai499d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface498d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard496d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
