GDC 2015: Microsoft Teases the Return of Battletoads

IGN - During the Windows 10 event at GDC 2015, head of ID@Xbox Chris Charla hinted that there may be a future for the classic game series Battletoads.

I don't understand these statements. Uncharted serie's writer left Naughty Dog, is the future Uncharted games going to be...bad?

What's wrong with new people? Double Helix and Iron Galaxy did a great job on Killer Instinct. They're some old RARE figures still at the studio.

I liked Rare's Kinect games. I also liked Rare's classic back catalogue. It's not the company, but the people at the company that makes the games. I'm sure many of the game designers from the past have moved up to management roles by now at various game studios. Not many want to be in the same role for 30 years.

I don't know about open world, but I'd love a 3D game. It's crazy to think about it, but I'm actually unbelievably sick of 2D gaming right now because of the indie-game revival that has spread like wildfire over the last several years. I miss the types of 3D games we used to get in the N64/PS1-era, and early PS2/GCN gen. I'd love to see those types of games come back.

I'm actually more hopeful that a new Banjo-Kazooie and/or Conker will help bring back 3D platformers. I think it's a safe bet that Battletoads will be a side-scroller.

I am pumped for Battletoads to make it's way to the Xbox One.

I remember battletoads, so much fun! Beat-em-up Games should definitely make a comeback. Completely off topic, I know beat em up really isn't a genre, but it works for this type of thing. I never liked how people want to classify games this way when it ONLY works for this kind. There's no "drive em up", "sandbox em up", "hack em up" "slash em up" type games! :)

I'd be very happy to see a great Battletoads back, but I wonder if it'd be enough to have a digital download game of it and not a full-blown console release. That is, of course, unless they did it open-world than 2D. That'd be sweet.

PS4 has a wide variety of games, more highly rated games, and more games total. Look at Metacritic and listwar.

3D side scroller like the Ninja Turtles game but only 100 times better.

And I want the game to be just as hard as the originals, with the bikes, friendly fire, and being able to hit your partners.

With the Double Dragon Neon, Jimmy and Billy Lee as unlockable characters.

This needs to happen MS, THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN!
