The first widely available piece of concept art for the final episode of Valve's Half-Life 2 saga has been uncovered via the 2008 IntoThePixel E3 art gallery.
The piece--created by Valve artists Ted Backman, Jeremy Bennett, and Tristan Redford--appears to show Half-Life hero Gordon Freeman within a large Citadel-like environment, a Combine Advisor looming ominously overhead.
IntoThePixel's website labels the art as related to "Half Life EP3," with platforms listed as PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Valve has been mum about the final episode in the trilogy since the release of Episode Two last year. Episode Three will reportedly not be appearing at E3, though Valve will be making an appearance at the event to show off its zombie shooter Left 4 Dead.
Sometimes even promising titles never see the light of day. These are five of the most ambitious games that shouldn't have been canceled.
Kojima wouldn't have started his own studio if Silent Hills didn't get cancelled so even if it stung at first, I'm fine with it.
i remember being so excited for patriots for years, only to have them release that siege trash. i hate how multiplayer games, pvp in particular, have ruined so many potentially good games.
Zack Zwiezen writes, "It seems like just yesterday when Valve announced a trilogy of expansions for their super-popular PC game, 2004's Half-Life 2. But it’s actually been 15 years since Episode 3 was announced. And while Valve has since released a new Half-Life game, it wasn’t the one the developer announced back in 2006."
Still hurts a little that we didn’t get Ep3… and the “leaked” plans for it sounded like a great finale to the HL2 story arc.
Whatever they release next i hope it's not catered to consoles first. Back 4 Blood seems to be going that route by having automatic flashlights, but i have high hopes Valve won't water down any games as they are usually released on PC way earlier, like HL2 and HLA.
Man, I wish I played Half-Life 2 when it first came out so I could love it like the fans do.
I played it on Xbox 360 and I thought it was ok. I recognize it set a standard for a lot of things like physics in game and story-telling in an FPS, but I think by the time I played it the design had been improved upon by other games.
Agent Vaporware is a term used for software and games that are announced, but never released or cancelled. Essentially stuck in limbo due to development hell, lack of communication to the public, or pushed aside for other, more lucrative projects. Here are five long-awaited games we would like to see released this year.
I love the Vaporwave aesthetic, and I would definitely love to see a lot of these games come out soon. I think my favorite out of the list was Agent. Something about this style combined with the Cold War Spy setting really makes me want to try it out. Since it's from the makers of GTA, I'm sure it would be fun, and it would be interesting to see their take on an espionage game. Even if we don't get any of these games this year, I'm still pretty excited for some of the confirmed releases. One that I'm really looking forward to is Nova Nukers. It's a competitive multiplayer that has a lot of really interesting weapons that effect the game's environment, and a unique spherical stage design. I think it's going to be a really interesting game since it's doing a lot that I haven't seen in a multiplayer before.
I don't want Agent.....I just want a spy game...doesn't have to be agent but we don't really any any good ones to play.
* Create an agent....pick an agency to start at....do espionage and missions against other agencies and stuff.
^ would sell 3,000,000+
I've been really disappointed by Valves decision to go down the episodic route. The initial idea was that it would allow them to crank out the episodes quicker and also let them develop/progress their software quicker to take advantage of hardware progression.
Well, Id hardly say the episodes are dropping quickly, and regarding evolution of the engine, that's not exactly progressing at steady rate. I just wished, after the completion of HL2 they just jumped straight on HL3, it would probably be reaching completion around now.
Rant aside, hpefully someone is willing to take the time to port Episode 3 over to the PS3 correctly, it had HL2 E1 and E2 (not correctly but..), not finalising the series would be a serious downer for PS3 only gamers.
Ignore it and do not buy it.

lol Terrible port for a terrible console. PS3rd, you can't touch the 360! Not with your lame RAM 'issues'
it will be exclusive to the playstation 3 because of the cell broadband engine and blu ray capability
i think valve will be using the tilt functions in the game
