This Is One of the Best Forest Environments You've Ever Seen, Powered by Unreal Engine 4 & Megascans

Sadly it doesn't even use the new foliage system that has backscattering from leaves brought up by 4.7 update (now 4.7.1) because this video was made using 4.6, otherwise it would have looked even better (it would have looked even better if they used distanfieldGI that the preview version version of 4.8 has).

starchild3346d ago

Yeah, that definitely would have given the lighting more realism and made the whole scene look better.

Scatpants3346d ago

Your right, because as it is it looks like sh!t. /s

GMR_PR3346d ago

It looks alright i guess. Not blown away.

XboxOneX3346d ago

Yes I totally agree. Unreal Engine 4 always has looked much superior.

UKmilitia3345d ago

but it isnt a game or anything so i dont get why its good.
make a game using it and i be impressed.

SolidStoner3346d ago

dont know why.. it reminds me jungle of MGS3.. :) also all those animals, snakes and other blood sucking creatures is a must in these kind of woods! :)

MEGANE3346d ago

nope, but i saw Nathan drake running through those jungles.

DevilOgreFish3346d ago (Edited 3346d ago )

looks absolutely gorgeous. UE4 is very different from UE3, in fact they look almost nothing alike. I've been told the only limits to UE4 is your hardware and talent.

LifeInNZ3346d ago

Yes, but given its the unreal engine its probably all indestructible and does not react to explosions, etc. Who needs to buy a DLC bullet proof vest when all you need to do is find cover behind a bush.

Fans??? This is done by one person

WoodsRatesGames1087d ago

Someone else was commissioned to do the music and another person modelled the batmobile. Links to all involved are included in the article.

Gaming4Life19811088d ago

They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.

Am I crazy or is there an Unreal Engine 5 now? Why promote old tech?

waverider1108d ago

I really dont understand either? isnt the Unreal Engine 5 already available for studios? arent they already working with it?

masterfox1108d ago

UE5 Is for PS5 only, deal with it! :D

***runs away from this thread with pride!**

Tacoboto1108d ago

UE5 is not released yet and developers for years will still make UE4 games because that's where their tools and customizations are.

Mortal Kombat still uses UE3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also still UE3.

Magog1108d ago

That more of an embarrassing indictment of those devs than a reason to promote old software.

Tacoboto1108d ago

Embarrassing indictment? You know nothing of software development then.

Spenok1108d ago (Edited 1108d ago )

Because a ridiculous amount of the industry still uses 4, and because no, 5 is not out yet. They said it would launch later this year.

AuraAbjure1108d ago

Companies still use Unreal Engine 3.

Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.

Magog1108d ago

If you suddenly stopped casting reflections in a mirror I think you would notice.

Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
