Too Human - is Microsoft hyping this game too much?

Are Microsoft/Silicon knights going over the top with the Too Human media, as today they've released another Too Human skill Tree video? These videos are becoming hypnotic whereby ensuring that we all know that Too Human is on its way.

QueefyB5796d ago

lol bill gates you will be fired oh wait you already left the dying company please tell me microsofts secrets so i can use them against them once they are taken to the supreme court for falsely misleading children into believing the xbox 360 is a video game console and not a rice cooker

QueefyB5796d ago

please dont forget whenever you see an xbox 360 player always use http://img172.imageshack.us...

ry-guy5796d ago

I don't think they are hyping it at all. Dennis has been hyping it through his general talking up of his product but outside of that? I don't think so.

The hardcore crowd knows about it but I have yet to see anything out in the casual market like TV Advertisements. I don't think it is being advertised enough.

Rock Bottom5796d ago

Yes they are, can't wait for reviews. ^_^

The Dark Knight5796d ago

to be honest. No they arnt hyping it up...Hyping is what they did with halo 3. What microsoft are doing with Too Human is advertising a game.

Stupid articles these days

marionz5796d ago

yeah there is no hype for this game at all, a few random and verry boreing videos and thats about it.

this game looks like it should be on the wii, its so old and clunky looking, flop of the year no doubt about it.

Superfragilistic5796d ago (Edited 5796d ago )

I understand where you guys are coming from, and if we're talking mainstream marketing and advertising, you're correct.

But there's been a definite effort to promote the game to the hardcore through the countless videos on the web.

My problem is that I believe Too Human will only find significant financial success through promoting its mainstream appeal. Unlike the hardcore they are much less interested in textures, resolutions, development times, repetitive gameplay or 10 hour stories. They also care much less about the critical reception of games, where if they like what they see it doesn't bother them if the game only got a a 6 or 7 out of 10 (ed. that's an example not a comment on Too Human's potential score)

What concerns me is Microsoft have a game that whilst it has certain hardcore elements there is actually a lot that should appeal to a less hardcore gamer. The simple and easy to learn combat, the interesting story premise and the fact that it's something different would all have mainstream pulling power.

As noted by some, Microsoft have a real knack at mass marketing their big titles but when it comes to the smaller ones or the fresh IPs they have a terrible track record of that may have appeal of promoting them beyond the hardcore (Viva Pinata, Scene It?).

Hopefully E3 will see Microsoft come to their senses and promote this game beyond the highly discerning hardcore masses.

mepsipax5796d ago

I was fairly interested in too human when I heard it was actually coming out, so I did what I do with most games I'm really looking forward to, don't read every single thing about it, there is no hype, hype is created by the people, not the companies, I loved assassins creed because people told me it was lame, so when I booted it up I was expecting a bore fest, but it blew me away, the best thing you can do when theres a game you're interested in is to ignore it, because no matter what that game will never live up to the hype you've created around it in your own head.

Yeah, at one point Microsoft were really going all out on Too Human, then it seemed to just dry up, which makes me think someone from Microsoft maybe played the thing.

DJ5796d ago

Mid-2007. Then it slowly died off... I think the majority of the gaming community got turned off at E3 2006 though, with the infamous playable demo that really should've never been shown.

FPS nut5796d ago (Edited 5796d ago )

Why are you always here in Too Human news DJ? what is it about this game that scares you? I typed Too Human in the search bar over to the right and you are in like 80% of all Too Human news. Do you like this game and are just afraid to admit it, are you jealous, or is it a threat to you?

solidt125796d ago (Edited 5796d ago )

Why would a PS3 fan be jealous of this game. have you looked at the line up of games on the PS3 this fall and beyond. get a grip. I would understand if you said Gears of War but Too Human. That's just funny. No knock to this game I think it will be good, but your comment was hilarious.

mistertwoturbo5796d ago

It's not the question of "Do PS3 owners fear this game?" It's more of a question "Why in the hell don't you 360 owners see that it's not all that great of a game?"

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm going to rent it. But come back down to reality. Just because it's a 360 exclusive doesn't automatically make it a AAA++++++++ title of the year or anything.

dachiefsman5796d ago

how many too human advertisements have you seen either on or off the net. NONE.

I agree with the first post. More videos doesn't mean more hype or that would be the case for almost any game. Go to Gametrailers and look at Legendary. The game has at least 7 vids out and hasn't been released so that game must be hyped as well.

More people know about Gears 2 than Too Human.

juuken5796d ago (Edited 5796d ago )

...Um...yeah?
Oh yes they were hyping it, until they eventually stopped.

dachiefsman5796d ago

show me where they are hyping it? Do you see Too Human Mountain Dews, do you see Too Human Advertisements on the net or on TV?

And who cares if they over hype is it your money?

QueefyB5796d ago

juuken dont waste your time responding here use this it will take care of dachiefsman http://img172.imageshack.us...

dachiefsman5796d ago (Edited 5796d ago )

I am really an Xbot especially when I post sensibly instead of just insulting by showing a picture. Save your pictures and Print Screen your posts so you can see 10 years down the road how ridiculous you look. My cousins in grade school have more maturity than some of you.

You have no facts, no valid argument so you revert to name calling.

Welcome to my ignore list.

juuken5796d ago

They didn't need advertisements to overhype it at all. The mere three or four articles that came strolling by around here warranted the hype.

The game looks bad.

dachiefsman5796d ago

wow that makes no sense. so every game is hyped. most games get at least three or for previews that come through here besides why should you care its on the P.O.S. 360 amirite?

juuken5796d ago

...You didn't get my point some I'll leave it as that. -.-

Too Human Free for Xbox Gamers - Download It Here

The action-RPG by now-defunct Silicon Knights is now free for Xbox gamers! Check out the Too Human free direct download link with armor sets here.

RazzerRedux1431d ago

Fun fact: I'm one of five people to have completed Too Human and actually liked it. It should be noted that the other four ended up in mental institutions....sadly.

excaliburps1431d ago

I completed it and kinda liked it. Controls were iffy but overall, I dug it. Shame Dyack was crazy. xD

IanTH1431d ago

Glad to hear it! So, when did you get out of the institution?

Marquinho1430d ago

Too Human was "The Order: 1886" of the 360.

Nitrowolf21431d ago (Edited 1431d ago )

I have never played this, mostly because I didn't own an Xbox prior to a few months ago Def. will check this out

darthv721431d ago

It certainly has a cool story and its a good game. it was just marred by long development time and kind of egotistical creator.

Looper1431d ago

Hey!! I was told survivors had all signed an NDA! I'm telling!

Kribwalker1431d ago

i really liked this one too. Always wished for a sequel, but sadly i don’t see it in the cards

excaliburps1431d ago

Yeah, it had a solid story and game mechanics. I remember the controls weren't smartly implemented, and every time you respawned, the animation was so long.

Fantangoooo1431d ago

I can't count the number of times I finished this game gridding for gear. Weird control but I liked it

Neonridr1431d ago

sounds very Polybius to me..

Poopmist1431d ago

Me and my friend beat it so many times. I got the best armor mathematically possible in it. Great game imo but their needed to be more tutorials on how runes work. The one that spawns singularities upon hitting someone was cash.

DerfDerf1431d ago

I actually really enjoyed it.

RamRod881431d ago

I beat it too. The controls were weird, but once I got use to them it was okay. I found the story to be actually half decent. Too bad there wasn't a sequel because I really believe if they have fixed the issues the first game had(controls, camera, etc), it could have been a great series.

HyperMoused1431d ago

I though it was great too, yay us

Anomander1431d ago

Beat it as well. it had a good story line. Overall it was decent.

glennhkboy1431d ago

I remember that I played the 1st stage. The control was so bad that I couldn't force myself to continue.

morganfell1430d ago

Fun fact...you're actually one of six :) That game was the reason I kept an Xbox 360 running until they released the very last B/C titles and it was among them.

Chronicle7801430d ago

I thought the game was ok, clunky but ok. Every time I go back to play it though it takes 20 minutes for the controls to 'click' again. Pity most of the advanced combos and controls aren't listed anywhere in the game.

Phoenix Down 87.0 – Too Human

Denis Dyack would disapprove.

darthv721679d ago

I liked this game. It has it's flaws but the story and mechanics are pretty good. It still holds up today.

Kribwalker1679d ago

i really enjoyed it when it came out.

It was free recently on xbox through BC. Id love to see this revived but sadly i think the legal issues would stop that
