NLife:
Once upon a time when arcades were vibrant and 2D platform games were all the rage, Capcom struck gold with the original Ghosts 'N Goblins. The legendary tale of Sir Arthur and his quest to save Princess Prin Prin from demons was a huge success, but also notoriously difficult. Super tough from the off, in a further sadistic twist it must be completed twice over to reach the true ending. The series then continued with the faster and tougher sequel, Ghouls 'N Ghosts - following the same formula, the slicker and (at the time) cutting edge title was exactly what Sega needed to bolster the line-up of its latest console, pulling off a close-enough arcade perfect conversion for Mega Drive, and to critical acclaim.
If you’re a gamer “of a certain age”, you may vaguely remember the moment when games went from a grueling gauntlet requiring all your skill and concentration to tackle to a casual, checkpoint-containing, cruise control-encouraging walk in the park.
I beat Jurassic Park multiple times!
Jurassic Park had no save system, so I would leave the console running while I went to school, took breaks. It's not that it's hard, it's just tedious. But I was a Jurassic Park obsessed kid (around 13 when this hit), so I would obsessively scower ever inch of the maps (both 2D and 3D) until I had them memorized.
The Star Wars trilogy, I only beat w the cheat codes.
with the exception of Jurassic Park and Prince of Persia, I've beaten every other one of those. It just takes practice and time. Something I had way more of when I was younger.
Yes, it is much harder to start a retro collection in 2022 than it was in 2017, but it’s still possible! You’ll see there are still quite a few SNES games that are fun and affordable.
I really enjoyed Commando as a kid and it’s not listed . I bet it’s cheap maybe? Beat all 99 levels just to find out you start all over again .
Any retro console is still worth buying in 2022 whether a Genesis, NES, SMS, TG16. Some systems command a higher price then others but a SNES is still reasonably priced and worth grabbing you can mod the NA SNES to play Japanese games throw in an Everdrive and you're set. I feel sorry for some of the consoles I see on Ebay that have holes in them, yellowed to death, modified with shitty mods that barely work. The SNES might need a little work great way to learn if yellowed just use peroxide and UV light and it will turn white again. If you have a hobby of repairing older consoles that are listed as untested broken for parts some of the repairs are basic you can save money that way when buying a retro console. I just bought a $20 NES listed as broken on Ebay disable the lock out chip and new 72pin connector and it works.
Turning 64 this year.....my days playing video games are Now over.... time to move on to Jesus Christ .....I wish all of you Happy New Year . Game on Dudes!!!
It was fun while it lasted.
"Well before the arrival of notoriously difficult modern experiences like Dark Souls, we had incredibly challenging games like Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and its predecessor Ghosts 'n Goblins. Here, I'll take a look at the Super NES classic because after all, it's Halloween!" - Alex Legard from Video Chums
Amazing game timeless classic and gameplay. The mode 7 and music blew my mind when it first released.
Nintendo need more 2d sidescrolling games than every freakin character combine into one game (Smash bros. )
