Here’s A Look At The High Resolution Splatoon US Box-Art

We recently featured a small low resolution version for the US box-art for Nintendo upcoming colourful shooter, Splatoon. Thankfully, Amazon has provided us with a much bigger version of the very same box-art featuring the ink squirting protagonists. Splatoon arrives in the United States in May.

Wy the f***k do Nintendo US covers always have an angry expression?

While the game is a shooter, it's meant to be a fun game, not a war game of some kind. The angry expression of the squid is totally out of place (just like every kirby cover ever).

Horrible cover!

Yeah because the other two seem to be taking it seriously.

Horrible comment!

@ Colonel179 = Your mistaking Angry with Focused and mid-action.

Have you ever looked at an athletes face while they are doing what they are doing ?

Some pretty weird faces....but that is what people do when they are in the middle of action doing something.

Your focused on what your doing...not your face.

* This is perfectly and subtly displayed here, and the look of concentration on the characters faces is very similar to one Video Gamers and athletes have when in the middle of competition.

Way to try to just bash Nintendo just to bash Nintendo.

Learn to assess reality correctly please.

* It's a beautiful, colorful Cover and it stands out and it would be a good cover if it was an XB1, PC or PS4 game as well.

I get what you're saying, but just look every Kirby game cover compared to their respective cover from Japan, and you will understand what I mean.

The thing is that not ALWAYS does it have to be a cover with mean/angry/competitive expressions in them. The problem is that ALL US covers are like that (when apply).

There was an article on Kotaku about this some time ago. If I find it, I will share the link.

I am not bashing Nintendo, at least not reading this game (I do for other things, because they have been making weird decisions lately).

Look, I found an article from IGN: http://www.ign.com/articles...

Why Is Splatoon So Popular In Japan?

How, exactly, did Splatoon reach heights rivalled only by Pokémon in Japan? New IPs from the House of Mario appear as often as shiny Pocket Monsters, yet typically move comparatively mediocre numbers or fall into relative obscurity behind the premium marques of Mario, Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Pokémon. Take Pikmin and ARMS, for example, which we adore but struggle to compete with the tentpole franchises when it comes to sales numbers or mainstream mindshare.

So, again, how has Splatoon risen to become one of Nintendo's most important series in Japan?
