Having acquired the rights to the previously Irem-developed survival action adventure series Disaster Report late last year, Granzella has announced that it will be re-releasing the first two PS2 entires in the series on the Japanese PlayStation Store on February 18.
The games will retail as PlayStation Classics on the service, meaning they’ll be emulated versions of the original games, rather than retouched ports. Both games will retail for 1000 yen.
The close relationship between survival games and horror themes makes the outliers all the more remarkable. And no outlier is quite so notable in its divergence from classical horror themes as Irem’s Zettai Zetsumei Toshi series, whose first entry appeared in the US 15 years ago under the name Disaster Report. | Polygon
Disaster Report and Disaster Report 2, or Zettai Zetsumei Toshi and Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 2: Itetsuita Kioku-tachi as they’re known in Japan, are now available for PlayStation 3 via PS2 Classics on PlayStation Network in Japan.
Granzella will re-release the existing Disaster Report games. Disaster Report and its sequel called Raw Danger in the West will join Japan’s line of PS2 Classics. Disaster Report 3, a Japan-only PSP sequel, will be distributed on PSN.
Granzella have a PS4 (for 2015) and a Vita game in the works and are uploading older titles to PSN in the near future. For anyone interested.
Raw Danger was one of the most unique experiences on the PS2. I would love to try Disaster Report. Please come to the US and Canada.
I really wished some of these made it overseas. I played the one on PSP and really enjoyed it!
