Why are so few of Evolve's characters female?

Evolve will launch with twelve hunters: eight men, three women, and a robot, though it's referred to as a "he." Of the three female characters, two are medics (Val and Caira) and the other (Maggie) is a trapper. There are currently no female assault or support class characters.

Seriously it's not that big a deal. Battlefield Hardline has NO female options but that doesn't deter it's female fans. Gears of War had a pretty big female fanbase before they added females as well.

Why are there so many men being sent to fight and die to monsters. Robots and women are given more value. They sit on the back lines with sniper rifles and don't face danger until their men and pets are killed.

I don't think a 50-50 ratio needs to be present for male and female characters. They have both so that should be fine.

Otherwise you can complain about the next Borderlands because there is only 1 female character and 3 male characters.

If you want to complain about a game that has no playable female characters fine, but don't start complaining about there being less female characters in the game then male characters.

According to statisticbrain, only about 18% of U.S. soldiers are female. Evolve has an unrealistic 25%. That's clearly not fair to all of the men who put their life on the line every day.

I would say that 3:8 female:male is a pretty accurate representation of the audience for this type of game.

That's why so few characters are female. It's the only fair way to divide the characters.

That's assuming they want fairness. Game designers are within their rights to do whatever they want, as sexist as it may be.
