Gaijin Aiming for Project Morpheus & Oculus Rift Cross-Play

VRFocus - Gaijin Entertainment’s support of virtual reality (VR) is not to be overlooked. Having delivered compatibility for both iterations of the Oculus Rift development kits (DK1 and DK2) with War Thunder, and currently working on a Project Morpheus build for PlayStation 4, the studio is clearly keen to offer the most realistic simulation experience possible. Talking to VRFocus however, Gaijin Entertainment has revealed that they don’t intend to limit the compatibility of their software between platforms and are aiming to allow for Project Morpheus players to go head-to-head with Oculus Rift users.

This is serious stuff here! This may be the push to help solidify cross-platform gaming between the PC and competing consoles.

I'm willing to bet Microsoft has something pertaing to VR in the works. The only one I'm skeptical of not having anything is Nintendo! But I also believe Nintendo is in the works or process of making another console soon, so who knows? We all mightt be caught off guard.

Honestly the 500 dollar straight up console experience from Nintendo would be a home run in my opinion. No gimmicks, just games, 1080p 60fps or greater. Options wouldn't be bad either, 1440p seems a bit much for consoles yet though, maybe in 2 years we'll see that from Nintend, create consoles of differentiating power and cater to people who don't mind lower res, people who like 1080p and people who want the best bang for their buck at the higher resolution. Different editions of the same platform, possibly even WiiU compatible? That way they wouldn't abandon it in its current state and they would get multiplat spry support. We've already seen that divide in the 3DS vs the New 3DS, or perhaps I'm mixing my handhelds up.

But that ain't happening... I'm expecting another Wii Remote. I miss the old Nintendo.

I hope Morpheus will be supported by a lot of games, but I'd be tempted to buy one for War Thunder alone.

I agree. I would buy Morpheus just to play War Thunder.

Good news I think. VR needs to take off from the get go.

crazyCoconuts60d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
