Grim Fandango Remastered Review - The Gamers Lounge

Grim Fandango is a noir story driven adventure game from the mind of Tim Schafer and was originally released by Lucasarts in 1998 for the PC. It was commercially considered a failure but critically considered one of the greatest PC games of all time. Now thanks to Tim and with help from Sony's Playstation Third Party Relations this cult classic returns, remastered for the PS4, Vita and PC.

I just looked at the store and it says it comes out tomorrow.

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Oh well I have an alien to play with so I can wait.

I got it...but it's tricky. I suggest getting it through the Playstation app on your phone or tablet. Just put in your queue. When I downloaded from psn on my ps4, I couldn't access it. Once I used my phone, it began dowloading.

I'm loving it.

WitWolfy3401d ago

Thats only for the US stores dude. We EU gamers have to wait until tomorrow.

i like people having a positive thinking about a game. you guys made me interested in this one i never tried the original

MasterCornholio3401d ago

If you like puzzle adventure games you will like this one. Plus its only 15$.

1nsomniac3401d ago

I've been waiting to see how much it would be. So with it being $15 I guess with Sonys currency conversion rates that'll equal £15/$23. I want this game but I'm not paying that price for it...

Grim Fandango Remastered Review | TheXboxHub

Dave writes: "The weakest of the LucasArts remasters, Grim Fandango Remastered on Xbox One has aged the most in terms of its visuals and obscure puzzling. There’s a fantastic story being told here, with Glottis, Manny, Chepito and the rest being absolute belters. But they’re stuck in a limbo of bloated sandboxes, plodding character speeds and puzzles that should have come with a pre-packaged walkthrough."

They have Remastered for a long time.

Bender65021298d ago (Edited 1298d ago )

And they have been awesome for an even longer time than they have been remastered.Played all of these first time round, along with Monkey island series . A time when point n' click adventures where at their pinnacle, and when eight or sixteen colours on screen was considered bleeding edge graphics. I'm not sure if a modern audience will embrace them in the same way today, but I sure hope they do. Maybe I'll have to drag out my old DX66 based DOS BOX for a replay of the orignals.

These games have aged terribly. There's still some humour there, for sure, but it's a slog between those points. No doubting they were awesome back in the day, but man, don't waste your time.

Dudeson1310d ago

Gotta disagree on this. These games are gems and didn't even need the remakes to still be enjoyable! Grim fandango especially is a great game that I would encourage everyone to try when you are in a mood to game with your feet kicked up, seat in lounge mode and want to have a laugh.

MadLad1310d ago

I also disagree.
I watched a playthrough of Grim, back in the day, so never made a point to play it; but I highly enjoyed going through the remasters of Full Throttle, and DotT, having never played the originals.

No nostalgia involved. I just thought they were highly entertaining experiences.

Wretchedstain1310d ago

I have a real appreciation for the 'Day of the tentacle' remaster, it was and still is a masterpiece to me. How everything ties in and how it was written was so well thought out. Took me weeks to figure it all out and finish the game back in the early 90's, and once I did, I could speed run it and finish it in under an hour (let alone all the time sunk in to finish it).

Schafer: Remember when I used to make good games and wasn't a huge asshole!?
