Something is brewing at Microsoft, in the form of a new title for "one of the most popular video games of all time," most probably a new Minecraft or a spin-off for the franchise.

Hmmm, create together.. i guess like you said, Minecraft.

Or on the other hand Kinect Adventures for Xone since it sold 24 million copies.

Mr Pumblechook3409d ago (Edited 3409d ago )

The job spec mentions the community that is 'the most active and passionate in the world.' So yeah, I have to go with Minecraft 2 or a spin-off.

What's interesting is that Microsoft genuinely have a vision of this as more than just a game sequel but a full platform so I'd like to know what they've got in mind. I speculate that maybe it's for learning skills in a 3D world. Also good to read that it is for multiple platforms but I hope this means more than just PC, Xbox and Windows Phone and will mean Mac, Nintendo, PlayStation, Android and iOS. Maybe this year's Minecraft Story game will give us a clue about the different things that can be done with it.

Gazondaily3409d ago

Yeah its probably Minecraft. I don't care for Minecraft at all.

And here I was getting excited we'll get some beast old-skool games. COME ON!

JohnnyBadfinger3409d ago

Brute Force 2 and or CONKER! confirmed!

amiga-man3409d ago

Pacman the guerilla wars is my bet.

andibandit3409d ago (Edited 3409d ago )

3D Tetris

on a more serious note I
wouldnt put to much into a job-ad, but anyways, having read it, how do you guys conclude that there's talk of a "New" title?

nX3409d ago

I never liked Minecraft but I'm still excited to see what a multi-billion dollar company like MS can do with it. Mojang became pretty lazy so it was time that something changes.

Magicite3409d ago

there are not many big IP's MS owns, so it cant be anything serious.

Svinya3409d ago (Edited 3409d ago )

Can't wait till you disappear forever. Is Latvia really such a huge and boring dump of a country that you spend all your time trolling online?

Svinya3409d ago

All hail Abriael, the master of job postings and overused click bait adjectives!!

Age of Empires 4 or Age of Mythology 2 will be great to showcase during the windows 10 event.

christocolus3409d ago

If MS plans to show off dx12 at their conference then they may do so with AOE, AOM or an Epic developed title. Can't wait to see what they planned though.

Metallox3409d ago

This year will be the 10th anniversary since the launch of Age of Empires III. Could make sense, and I'd love to death that announcement.

Gazondaily3409d ago

Age of Empires with smartglass integration would be sick

RiseofScorpio3409d ago

Kinect support would make RTS work way better on XB1.

Omran3409d ago

One man can dream :

Red Alert 2 I know the IP belong to EA but I hope they
will have another game similar to the second one at least !

Gazondaily3409d ago

Oh man. Red Alert 2. My favourite RTS of all time.

Kirov reporting.

Immorals3409d ago

Ra2 with Yuris revenge is in my top 3 games ever.

Omran3409d ago (Edited 3409d ago )

Septic :

yeah it was my favorite along with stronghold crusader

Immorals :

yeah definitely, the campaign was awesome in red alert 2

Well I'm bored to death with Minecraft these days, when you play it for months straight on and off for years like me you realize how little there is to do but make things that someone else has already made. The first time I played Minecraft it was so amazing to me and kind of reminded me of Animal Crossing which is awesome. Terraria is where I'm spending my time right now, it feels more interesting for me right now. But yeah a more feature rich Minecraft would be awesome with more thought into the world and actual quests or an actual point other than building block worlds. But of course this next Minecraft probably won't come to PS4 if Microsoft themselves are the ones creating it instead of Mojang.

nX3409d ago

I agree, Terraria is a much better 'game' than Minecraft. I hope Microsoft develops Minecraft 2 as a gaming experience, not just a building experience.

DragoonsScaleLegends3409d ago (Edited 3409d ago )

Yeah I liked Minecraft when it was new and fresh but now it lacks to much to be that entertaining unless of course your new to the game or if your on PC and like the mods available but those got old real fast for me. It definitely needs more to do than just building in the sequel.

Father__Merrin3409d ago

kinect powered minecraft? would be fun

DarkOcelet3409d ago

It would if the kinect works probably because other than the voice command , it sucks.

Svinya3409d ago

Oh shut up dude. D4 and Fantasia beg to differ. You're such an annoying stealth troll.

F0XHOUND3409d ago

Minecraft 2, exclusive.

I have no interest in that, bring back a classic IP and I'm in! Maybe a RARE title like, Conker's bad fur day?

3409d ago
qwerty6763409d ago

timed exclusive yes

lifetime exclusive no

the smart thing to do would be to release it on xbox and pc first and then the rest of platforms months later.

they would probably get a lot of xb1 sales off that.

F*** AI

"Hey Copilot, what's a good meme to prove I dislike AI".... https://giphy.com/clips/sou...

Einhander19721d 16h ago

Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.

It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.

....you know it takes people to program the AI.... right? It isnt like it is sentient. We haven't reach skynet level of situation or anywhere close to the matrix just yet.

That's next Thursday.

Einhander197212h ago(Edited 12h ago)

It takes a people to program the AI then that AI is used for who knows how many games eliminating countless jobs which only grows as AI is used for more and more game creation functions.

What you're saying is so ridiculously short sighted and truly larking any kind of understanding and foresight.

Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.

Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.

MrDead1d 4h ago

Yes we can't wait for the work of others to be used without the need to pay them so that MS can profit even more from the people they fire.

I_am_Batman1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

There is no chance I'd ever use something like this, especially if it's not part of the core game design, but a layer on top of it. It's way too much handholding. Many games already feel like busy work, because they don't let the player figure things out on their own. Having a real-time interactive guide defeats the purpose of playing the game in the first place in my opinion.

If this were to become the standard like you predict, we'll see more and more video games get away with bad design, because people will just be used to ask for help from the AI companion anyway.

Number1TailzFan1d 3h ago

Well Nintendo don't need this with some of their games these days, with invincible characters, items, easy bosses etc.. they do the hand holding built in

helicoptergirl1d 4h ago

Takes "hand holding" in games to a whole new level.

1 major advantage to this will be launching it straight from SteamVR. You have to make a custom shortcut to get it working right now in VR.

This is good news. It will be much easier to get it installed on my devices without using workarounds.
